On April 4, 2026, the Iranian regime’s killing machine claimed the lives of PMOI members Vahid Bani Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer. Their hangings followed the executions of four other members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) over a bloody 48-hour period just days prior. Montazer, a 66-year-old architect and veteran freedom fighter, had endured severe physical and psychological torture, sham trials, and suffered from multiple illnesses, including heart, lung, and kidney diseases. Yet, until his final moments, his spirit remained unbroken.
Recently, a powerful message recorded by Abolhassan Montazer surfaced, delivered directly to both the ruling clerics and the remnants of the ousted Pahlavi dictatorship. His defiant words serve as a living testament to the true nature of the Iranian people’s resistance. They shatter the illusions propagated by monarchists that Iranians wish for a return to the past, proving instead that the ongoing revolution is a forward-looking, democratic movement fighting for a free republic.
Shattering the pro-monarchy illusion
The remnants of the deposed Shah’s regime are trying to rewrite history. They actively try to create the false impression that the 1979 revolution, which ousted the Pahlavi dictatorship—was a “mistake” and that the rebellious youth currently taking to the streets secretly yearn for a return to monarchial rule.
Montazer’s final message thoroughly dismantles this opportunism. As a political prisoner who sacrificed his youth fighting the Shah’s dictatorship and later dedicated his life to battling the mullahs’ theocracy, his voice represents the authentic, unwavering demands of the Iranian people.
Addressing the son of the deposed Shah, Montazer delivered a stinging rebuke: “A warning from an Ashraf-supporter born of the 1979 revolution to you, the Shah’s son: know that your family’s monarchy, which we threw into the dustbin of history, will not be recycled.”
He further condemned the rampant corruption that defined the Pahlavi family, rejecting the notion that they have any legitimate claim to Iran’s future. “You, whose father stole billions, and who is now the heir and plunderer of that wealth, the people’s wealth! We will pull it right out of your throat,” he vowed.

Rejecting both dictatorships: A clear path forward
The Iranian people refuse to choose between two oppressors. They have shed too much blood to replace the current religious dictatorship with a rebranded version of the former monarchy. Montazer encapsulated this national sentiment with a definitive historical assessment: “Know, you son of the Shah, the history of the Shah and the mullahs has expired.”
For Montazer and the PMOI Resistance Units operating inside Iran, the goal of the current uprisings is clear and absolute. “Iran’s current landscape has only one solution,” he stated. “A democratic movement led by democratic forces!”
He warned the remnants of the monarchy and other political opportunists not to interfere with the sacrifices being made by the people on the ground. Reflecting on the hijacked 1979 revolution, where Ruhollah Khomeini stole the leadership of a democratic uprising, Montazer promised that true revolutionaries would protect the ongoing movement. “We will not allow you and the opportunists… to derail the revolution currently in the making!” he declared. “We are standing firm until the end. Know that we will not let this path be stolen once again!”
Unwavering defiance against the ruling theocracy
Facing the gallows, Montazer also directed his fiery defiance at the ruling clerical establishment, proving the immense bravery of Iran’s political prisoners. Knowing the brutal fate that awaited him, he challenged the supreme leader directly: “Just as I have warned you [the Shah’s son], I warn the dictator mullahs: we are the disruptors of your dictatorial order as long as there is breath in my body.”
Montazer highlighted his absolute dedication to the PMOI’s cause. He noted that he and his generation gave up their wealth and personal lives in the struggle against the Shah, bringing that exact same revolutionary devotion to the fight against the mullahs. “Even now, at this age, we have nothing but our faith, our ideals, and our belief in our leadership,” he said.
He ended his message by revealing the nightly mantra that carried him through the darkest days of torture and imprisonment in the regime’s dungeons. “Every night, over and over, I fall asleep with this whisper, hoping to see the next morning: to remain a Mojahed, to fight as a Mojahed, and then to die a Mojahed.”

Full text of Abolhassan Montazer’s message addressed to the son of the Shah and the mullahs’ regime
A warning from an Ashraf-supporter born of the 1979 revolution to you, the Shah’s son: know that your family’s monarchy, which we threw into the dustbin of history, will not be recycled.
I warn you and the opportunists who have made a name for yourselves from the pockets of the people and the heroic masses of Iran: you have gone astray, and we, the Mojahedin and the Resistance Units, have shattered and will shatter your illusions.
You must not and cannot deal away even a fraction of this country with old and new colonial powers.
Know, you son of the Shah, that the history of the Shah and the mullahs has expired. Iran’s current landscape has only one solution: a democratic movement led by democratic forces!
You, whose father stole billions, and who is now the heir and plunderer of that wealth, the people’s wealth! We will pull it right out of your throat.
Know that we, the Resistance Units, have sworn an oath and made a pact on the path of the People’s Mojahedin to remain a Mojahed, to die as a Mojahed, and to fight as a Mojahed.
Know that we will not allow you and the opportunists, who are merely defeated remnants of the ruling tyranny, to derail the revolution currently in the making!
We sacrificed our wealth. We sacrificed our personal lives in the struggle against your father, and even now, at this age, we have nothing but our faith, our ideals, and our belief in our leadership.
We are standing firm until the end. Know that we will not let this revolution be stolen once again!
Just as I have warned you, I warn the dictatorship of the mullahs: we are the disruptors of your dictatorial order as long as there is breath in my body.
Every night, over and over, I fall asleep with this whisper, hoping to see the next morning: to remain a Mojahed, to fight as a Mojahed, and then to die a Mojahed.
With abundant greetings to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran.
Long live the new democratic revolution of Iran.
