Iran, May 06, 2020—Over 39,500 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 314 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Tuesday afternoon local time, May 6. The official death count declared by the regime is 6,418, less than a sixth of the actual figure.
The death toll in various provinces include: 6,560 in Tehran, 2,015 in Khuzestan, 1,005 in Fars, 990 in Lorestan, 640 in Kurdistan, 445 in Qazvin, 435 in Bushehr, and 163 in Hormozgan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

As a result of Iranian regime officials ordering people to return to work, the number of coronavirus cases across the country has increased significantly and Iranian regime Health Ministry spokesperson Kianoush Jahanpour was forced to acknowledge this development. On Wednesday, Jahanpour said there have been 1,680 new COVID-19 cases across Iran during the last 24 hours. This is twice the number of new cases announced on May 2 (802) and the impact will be witnessed in the upcoming weeks.

Iran’s state-TV aired a meeting of regime President Hassan Rouhani with Health Ministry officials on Monday night where he went the distance to justify the mullahs’ engineering of the country’s coronavirus figures. “There are people who are infected, and no one is informed. They themselves aren’t informed. No hospital is informed. No statistics center is informed. So, we have to agree that the number of cases in all countries across the world can be more than their official numbers… the same with the number of deaths… When an individual has a previous illness, should that be declared as the cause of death or COVID-19… We can count both ways and countries around the world have counted in both methods,” Rouhani said.
The regime’s Health Minister Saeed Namaki said in this meeting, “We all expected this virus to gradually be contained during the warmer season. Our warmer provinces, such as Khuzestan, Hormozgan, and Bushehr are now witnessing a rise in coronavirus numbers.”
“Due to the relaxing of social distancing regulations from April 11 onward, we have witnessed an increasing trend from mid to late April… Most of the increasing number of cases have been in the cities of Ahvaz, Bavey, Dezful, Shushtar, and Karoun… Most of the cases are in the city outskirts where the locals are poor and living in low-quality conditions,” Farhad Abol Nezhadian, dean of Khuzestan Medical Sciences University, said in this regard on Tuesday, according to the state-run IRIB TV.
“All cities of Khuzestan Provinces are infected, especially Ahvaz and the cities and towns around it are highly infected. One individual traveling from Ahvaz with COVID-19 to Ramshir, the number of cases suddenly exploded,” Seyed Mohammad Alavi, head of the Health Department in this university, said on Wednesday, according to the state-run Resalat daily.
“There have been no changes in our conditions and Tehran is considered a contaminated city. Many surfaces are infected with COVID-19,” Alireza Zali, head of Tehran COVID-19 Task Force HQ, said on Wednesday, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.
“None of Mazandaran’s cities and towns are considered ‘white’ (low risk) areas,” Dr. Seyed Abbas Mousavi, said on Tuesday, according to the regime’s Fars news agency, affiliated to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).
In Shahroud, head of the local Medical Sciences University said on Wednesday that the city of Mayamey, listed as one of the “white” areas, “is not only not white but remains a red area,” according to the regime’s Mehr news agency, affiliated to the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
In Zahedan, located southeast Iran, deputy dean of the local Medical Sciences University said on Tuesday, “Considering the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases across [Sistan & Baluchistan] province in the past two weeks, it appears that we are in the second coronavirus wave,” according to the state-run Borna news agency.
The state-run Jahane Sanat daily wrote on Wednesday, “Experts inside the government and others believe that [Rouhani] is naïve about COVID-19’s behavior… The result of these cloaking measures, declaring some virus hotspots as white and low-risk will result in the people not taking this illness seriously at all.”
