At a conference held last week in the Italian Parliament with the participation of lawmakers from both houses, Emanuele Pozzolo, a member of the Italian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, rejected any illusions of “moderation” within the Iranian regime. Highlighting over a thousand executions during the presidency of Masoud Pezeshkian, he said: “Are these [executions] the turnaround that the mullahs present to the world, expecting applause?” Pozzolo emphasized the need for a firm policy towards the regime and called for Europe to list the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.

He considered supporting the Iranian people’s resistance for their freedom an essential part of a correct policy, stating: “The mullahs’ regime is particularly afraid of Mrs. [Maryam] Rajavi and the PMOI and their supporters because they are the only real force with a practical plan for Iran’s future. That is why we fully support Mrs. Rajavi’s 10-point plan.”
Another speaker at the conference, Senator Gisella Naturale, Vice President of the Senate’s Industry Committee, said in her speech: “It was painful for me when I read and understood that the number of executions has increased by 43% compared to last year. Therefore, the situation is getting worse and worse, and this is unacceptable. As a woman, I feel it is my duty, on behalf of the women in parliament, to express our solidarity with all the struggling women in the Iranian resistance.”

Senator Giulio Terzi, President of the EU Policy Committee in the Italian Senate and former Foreign Minister of Italy, spoke about the Iranian regime’s nuclear crisis and the Iranian resistance’s revelations regarding the regime’s secrecy and deception. He recalled: “The PMOI exposed the regime’s secret military and nuclear program 20 years ago, preventing the regime from obtaining an atomic bomb. Now, the Iranian regime wants to restart the same game and deception.” He added: “Those who are killed in the streets or taken to Evin Prison shout: Yes to democracy, no to war, no to nuclear weapons, no to threats against neighbors—these are the same slogans and demands as the PMOI. We must keep alive the memory of the victims of the 1988 massacre; the PMOI members who stood by these positions and sacrificed their lives.”
Speech at the Conference in the Italian Parliament: The Necessity of a Sound Policy
The most important reality about the situation in Iran is this: The ruling regime is in a state of overthrow.

In her message to the conference, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said: “The past 46 years have proven that this regime is bound by no promises or commitments… The mullahs’ access to nuclear weapons can be curtailed, but the path to that is the dismantling of this brutal dictatorship. Their terrorism around the world can be brought to an end, but the only way to do so is to put an end to the reign of the godfather of state-sponsored terrorism.”
Mrs. Rajavi noted that for decades, the “failed policy of appeasement toward this inhuman and anti-Iranian regime… has prioritized short-term diplomatic and commercial interests over long-term strategic considerations.” She added, “while the European Parliament has repeatedly called for listing the regime’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in various resolutions, why do the governments of the European Union hesitate in making this decision?” She called for Europe to “adopt a decisive policy against the clerical regime and stand with the Iranian people in their struggle for freedom and democracy.”
