PMOI Resistance Units reiterate commitment to struggle for freedom and democracy

In a clear demonstration of coordinated efforts and unwavering determination, the Resistance Units affiliated with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) have carried out a series of activities across multiple Iranian cities, underscoring their steadfast resolve to fight for freedom and democracy. These actions, spanning diverse regions, highlight the organizational capacity and the depth of dissatisfaction within the country.

The message of the Resistance Units was clear: as long as this regime remains in power, the struggle for freedom will continue. Their slogans, prominently displayed in various cities, called for change and reaffirmed their commitment to democratic principles.

In Rasht, banners with the phrase “Death to the oppressor, whether the Shah or the mullahs” were hung, expressing an unequivocal rejection of the current theocratic regime and any return to authoritarian monarchy. Similar messages were seen in Karaj, where banners carried the slogan “Women, Resistance, Freedom,” reflecting a broad-based message supporting the role of women in the fight for liberty.

In Sanandaj, other banners echoed the same calls for liberation and democracy championed by the movement. Meanwhile, in Tehran, banners directly challenged the regime with the message “Death to Khamenei,” targeting the Supreme Leader as the symbol of systemic oppression.

In Zahedan, banners proclaimed, “The gallows will do nothing to stop the Mojahedin,” signaling defiance against the regime’s repressive measures and its persistent use of executions to stifle dissent. In Mahabad, slogans such as “Hail to Rajavi” were raised, referring to the leadership of the MEK and its vision for a free Iran.

Across these cities, the central theme was the call to overthrow the regime. In Karaj, the phrase “The first and last word is regime change” encapsulated the ultimate goal of the Resistance Units. This sentiment was echoed in Tehran, where messages like “Death to Khamenei” targeted Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as the primary figure responsible for the regime’s systematic repression.

These activities took place in at the beginning of 2025, reflecting a persistent resistance movement undeterred by the regime’s iron grip. The broad scope of these protests, spanning from Mahabad in the northwest to Zahedan in the southeast, demonstrates a national network of activists united by a common vision.

Through these activities, the Resistance Units of the MEK have reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of freedom and democracy. As stated in their declarations, they have “sworn that as long as this regime continues, the fight for freedom will endure.” The determination and courage of these activists, despite life-threatening conditions, highlight the depth of discontent among the Iranian people.

The regime’s oppressive apparatus has struggled to contain the wave of dissent sweeping the nation. The slogans raised in these cities not only reflect the aspirations of the Iranian people but also serve as a stark reminder of the challenges facing the ruling system.

The recent activities of the Resistance Units indicate a growing momentum for change within Iran. Their messages, centered on gender equality, democracy, and regime change, align with the aspirations of a people suffering from decades of oppression. As these protests spread, they offer a glimpse of renewed hope for a free and democratic future for Iran.
