Iran’s regime furious over Hezbollah’s terrorist-designation in Germany

Iran, May 02, 2020—The mullahs’ regime ruling Iran is furious over the Germany’s recent decision to designate the Lebanese Hezbollah as a terrorist organization and ridiculously described such a move as a “strategic mistake.”

“Germany’s measure in designating the Lebanese Hezbollah as a terrorist organization is a strategic mistake. Hezbollah is an important part of the Lebanese society, a guarantor of security and soveriengty, and part of the Lebanese government and parliament,” said Amir Abdullahian, a member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force and special assistant in international affairs to the regime’s Majlis (parliament) speaker Ali Larijani, to the IRGC-affiliated Fars news agency on Thursday, April 30. “Germany falling in line with filthy policies seeking interests in the region will place Berlin in danger,” he threatened.

The German Interior Ministry had announced all of the Lebanese Hezbollah’s activities on German soil is promoting an armed struggle through terrorist means. Germany has banned all of Hezbollah’s measures on its soil.

Reuters reported that the German government banned the Lebanese Hezbollah and designated this entity as a terrorist organization that carries out attacks. This designation was carried out by the German Interior Ministry.

The move means that Hezbollah symbols are banned at gatherings and in publications or in the media and Hezbollah assets can be confiscated, said the ministry, adding as it is a foreign organization, it is not possible to ban and dissolve it. Security officials believe up to 1,050 people in Germany are part of what they describe as Hezbollah’s extremist wing.

Previously, Germany had distinguished between Hezbollah’s political arm and its military units, which have fought alongside the army of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.

“The organization is therefore fundamentally against the concept of international understanding, regardless of whether it presents itself as a political, social or military structure,” the German Interior Ministry statement said.

In dawn raids on Thursday, police searched mosque associations in the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Bremen and Berlin which they believe are close to Hezbollah and the private residences of the leaders of each association.

The associations under investigation are suspected of forming part of Hezbollah due to their financial support and propaganda for the terrorist organization, said the interior ministry.

The Lebanese Hezbollah was founded by the Iranian regime back in the early 1980s and continues to be funded, trained and equipped by the IRGC Quds Force.
