Iran, May 29, 2020—Over 47,800 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 323 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Friday afternoon local time, May 29. The official death count declared by the regime stands at 7,677, less than a sixth of the actual figure.
The death toll in various provinces include: 3,585 in Khuzestan, 1,625 in East Azerbaijan, 1,455 in Lorestan, 1,295 in West Azerbaijan, 1,097 in Kermanshah, 1,060 in Fars, 840 in Kurdistan, and 553 in Kerman. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The coronavirus crisis has expanded to an alarming scope in just a few weeks following the criminal decision by Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani to revoke quarantine measures and return the deprived people of Iran back to work.
Health Ministry spokesperson Kianush Jahanpour acknowledged the regime’s engineered stats on Friday indicating 2,815 new COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hours alone. This is a 250 percent increase in the span of four weeks and the highest number of new coronavirus cases in the past eight weeks. “Conditions in Khuzestan province remain red. The provinces of Razavi Khorasan, East and West Azerbaijan, Lorestan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Hormozgan, and Mazandaran remain alarming,” he added, according to the regime’s state-TV.
In further attempts to place the blame on the Iranian people, Rouhani claimed holiday trips are the cause of the new rise in COVID-19 cases and called on the people to refrain from unnecessary trips. Rouhani went further in his preposterous remarks and threatened to reimpose some of the previous restrictions.
Health Minister Saeed Namaki also played the same tune in his remarks. “If the trend of unnecessary traveling during the weekends and summer vacations continue as they are now, and hygiene protocols are not observed, once again we will be witnessing a spike in coronavirus cases across the country and we will have no choice but to reimpose some of the restrictions,” he said according to a report wired on Thursday, May 28, by the regime’s official IRNA news agency.

“We have identified over 5,000 new patients in east and west of Ahvaz [major city in southwest Iran] … there are one or two in each family,” said the head of West Ahvaz Health Center, according to a program aired on Thursday by the Khuzestan TV network.
“In Khuzestan province… the number of COVID-19 cases is increasing with each passing day. We expect the number of hospitalized patients to increase and even the number of cases that are not hospitalized will also increase,” said Deputy Health Minister Ghasem Janbabaie, according to a program aired Thursday on state-run TV.
According to the regime’s state-run television, the president of Tabriz Medical Sciences University reported the number of coronavirus cases in the Eastern Azerbaijan province to be 8,820 and the number of COVID-19 deaths at 567. “Out of every 100 people, nearly 18 have contracted coronavirus,” the state broadcaster reported.
Javan newspaper quoted the spokesperson of Jondishapur Medical Sciences University in Ahvaz, Khuzestan province, as saying, “In the past 24 hours, 580 more people have contracted coronavirus.”
ISNA news agency quoted the deputy dean of the Medical Sciences University of Kurdistan as saying, “Every day, we’re faced with a new wave of coronavirus cases in the hospital.”
Fars News Agency quoted the president of Kermanshah Medical Sciences University as saying, “In the past few days, more than 200 new cases have been hospitalized each day, which is very worrying.”
Fars also reported, “The counties of Shiraz, Marvdasht, Abadeh, Larestan, Avez, Gorash, Fasa, and Jahrom have the most coronavirus cases in Fars province. The number of patients in these counties is in the hundreds, and in 25 other counties, it’s double digits.”
IRNA, the regime’s official news agency, quoted the deputy governor of Hormozgan province as saying, “The capacity of Minab hospital’s coronavirus section is full.”
Tasnim, a media outlet run by the terrorist Quds Force, quoted the dean of Bushehr Medical Sciences University as saying, “The increase of coronavirus cases is worrying.”

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), reiterated that the regime is responsible for the resurgence of coronavirus infection across the country. Regime officials are only worried about maintaining their hold on power and looting the wealth of the country, Mrs. Rajavi stressed, or else they would have covered the costs of living for the hardworking and impoverished classes of the Iranian society to avoid sending them back to work. The costs could easily be covered with the large financial and economic institutions controlled by Khamenei and the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), and there was no need to send the people back to work to face the perils of coronavirus infection.
