Iran, June 24, 2021—Over 317,000 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Thursday afternoon local time, June 24. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 83,473, around a fourth of the actual figure.
The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 74,296 in Tehran, 21,360 in Isfahan, 20,026 in Khuzestan, 19,270 in Razavi Khorasan, 12,505 in Lorestan, 10,627 in Fars, 10,551 in Gilan, 9820 in Qom, 7496 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 7178 in Kerman, 6528 in Markazi (Central), 5300 in Semnan, 4530 in Hormozgan, 3910 in Ardabil, and 3445 in Zanjan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.
The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Thursday as 144 deaths and 11,734 new cases, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency. Furthermore, 3225 patients are in ICUs and 1342 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

Regime President Hassan Rouhani said Iranian vaccines getting authorization as “a source of pride.” All the while, a deputy Health Minister issued a letter on Thursday to the Health Minister saying, “Issuing authorization for a vaccine without correctly surpassing the third phase of tests is dangerous and unprecedented. The decision-making process, arguments and all the measures involved should be transparently reported to the public. We need to strongly refrain from creating confusion for the people regarding the effectiveness of the vaccines that have not gone through the scientific authorization process,” this official added, according to the Hamshahri daily.
“If we delay in taking necessary measures, we will be having a fifth peak with the Indian or delta variant. It is natural that our southern provinces will change to red status zones. We need to take this possibility into consideration that the Indian variant has spread across the country. We are facing a scenario like the fourth peak with the UK variant,” said Alireza Naji, head of the Beheshti University Research Center on Thursday, according to the Mizan news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s judiciary.
“Most of the country’s southern provinces are facing cases of the Indian and African variants. If these two viruses transfer to other provinces, we will witness a fifth peak. From mid-June onward the decreasing trend has stopped and in the fourth week we have seen 3.3 percent rise in the number of people seeking initial medical care for coronavirus symptoms. This can be a serious alarm bell for us,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Thursday, according to the Mizan news agency.
“[Hormozgan] province remains the main coronavirus epicenter in the country,” said the spokesperson of the Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Thursday. “Every day we are seeing over 1000 coronavirus patients added in this province. The number of people being hospitalized is rising and hospital beds have been filled to such an extent that the number of patients quarantined in their homes have increased. The count stands at 10,344 as of now,” this official added, according to the Mizan news agency.
“In one day, we identified 450 new cases, indicating an explosive state in [Bushehr] province. During the past 24 hours we have had 83 new patients hospitalized for coronavirus, and 327 are currently hospitalized across the province,” said the dean of Bushehr Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the Mizan news agency.
