“A total of 2414 patients are hospitalized, indicating a 12 percent increase in comparison to last week. 872 patients are in ICUs which is a six percent increase in comparison to last week,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday. “It appears that this week we should expect the number of patients released to be low. In the past 24 hours the number of new patients hospitalized have increased in comparison to the number of patients released,” he added, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“The coronavirus management was unscientific, we did not use all our opportunities and there was no change in the management’s heading,” said a senior official of Tehran’s Masih Daneshvari Hospital on Sunday. “When the leadership cannot cope with the situation of a war, the commanders seen to be replaced. During the Covid-19 era there was no change in the management… The vaccination process still remains unclear. The vaccination speed is slow. [Health Minister Saied] Namaki is not a physician and has no experience working in hospitals, ICUs and among patients in dire conditions. He could have held meetings with critics, and instead he has been constantly arguing with the medical professionals. There is no planning for anything. As long as we lack comprehensive scientific planning the status quo will not change,” this official continued, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

The dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University said, “Last week, the number of Covid-19 cases increased by 22 percent in comparison to the previous week, and this week, the number of cases and hospitalized patients saw 11 and 14 percent increases respectively. In the past week, the number of cases in Ahvaz increased by 18 percent. In Mahshahr, Abadan, Shushtar, Dezful, and Ramhormoz, the number of cases increased by 30, 6, 29,  4, and 16 percent.” (Source: IRNA news agency, March 13)

The deputy dean of Lorestan Medical Sciences University said on Sunday, “The average number of cases have increased by 60 percent in comparison to the previous month. In February, there were an average 108 new cases per day, which has increased to 172 this month.” (Source: IRNA news agency, March 24)

The deputy dean of Tabriz Medical Sciences University reported 131 new UK strain coronavirus case in Eastern Azarbaijan province and said, “This is the highest number of the UK coronavirus in the country.” (Source: IRNA, March 24)

The spokesperson of Hormozgan Medical Sciences University reported 42 new UK coronavirus cases and said, “Bandar Abbas has 24 cases, which is the highest number of cases.” The manager of the sanitation network of Qeshm Island expressed concern at the increase in the daily number of UK coronavirus cases.

The dean of Birjand Medical Sciences University, Southern Khorasan province, said, “There is no place in the province that is safe, and there’s a possibility that this virus will be spotted in any location in Southern Khorsan province.” (Source: IRNA, March 24)

The state-run Mostaghel newspaper wrote on Sunday, “The health minister is begging: Don’t go on trips. But the interior minister says that vacation trips to blue and yellow cities is not banned. The contradictory remarks of government officials is even more painful than the coronavirus… From the interior minister’s remarks, one can infer that the way is open and the coronavirus road is long; the tourism industry must work and the wheels of the economy must turn… What’s remarkable is that the Covid-19 Task Force allows aerial flights on Nowruz, bans road trips to yellow and orange regions with personal cars, but allows trips with packed buses. The Covid-19 Task Force has shuttered some businesses but is allowing banks to work is not worried about the crowds that go to shopping tight markets and shopping centers that don’t even have air conditioning. The death tunnels of the subways are making things even worse.”
