In Zahedan, PMOI Resistance Units champion a democratic future, rejecting all dictatorships

On October 3, 2025, PMOI Resistance Units in the southeastern city of Zahedan resumed their weekly activities with a powerful and defiant message for Iran and the world. Amidst the regime’s ongoing repression, these activists took to the streets to reaffirm their unwavering commitment to the struggle against the ruling mullahs and their vision for a democratic republic that categorically rejects all forms of tyranny, past and present. Their placards and slogans sent a clear signal: the Iranian people’s quest for freedom will not be satisfied by replacing one dictator with another.

A firm line against both crown and turban

A central theme of the Resistance Units’ demonstration was the emphatic rejection of both the current theocracy and the former monarchical dictatorship. In a direct rebuke to those who suggest the Iranian people desire a return to the shah’s rule, their placards carried slogans such as, “Death to the oppressor, be it the shah or the supreme leader,” and “A dictator is a dictator, whether with a turban or a crown.” This message underscores a core principle of the Iranian resistance: true freedom cannot be achieved by turning back the clock.

The activists declared, “We will not go back to the past and we have rebelled against the current theocratical dictatorship,” highlighting that the crimes of both regimes are not forgotten. Slogans like, “Monarchy and mullahs have committed 100 years of crime,” frame the ongoing struggle as a battle for a genuinely democratic alternative, encapsulated in the call for, “No to monarchy, no to the supreme leader, yes to democracy and equality.”

Exposing the regime’s fundamental weakness

The Resistance Units also used their platform to expose the regime’s deep-seated illegitimacy and its reliance on weapons of mass destruction for survival. One placard powerfully stated, “We have said time and again that the mullahs’ regime sees atomic bombs as its only strategic guarantee for survival.” This highlights the fact that the regime, knowing it lacks popular support, turns to its illicit nuclear program as a shield against its inevitable overthrow.

The activists also welcomed international pressure as a crucial tool to weaken the ruling clergy, with one message reading, “Snapback sanctions are a major blow to the regime of executions and massacres.” This shows that the Iranian people and their organized resistance view decisive international action not as a threat, but as a vital support for their own struggle for freedom. The overarching sentiment was one of growing confidence, reflected in the statement that “The religious fascism of the mullahs’ regime is weaker than ever.”

A call for international accountability and recognition

Finally, the activists in Zahedan issued a direct call to the international community for action and solidarity. They demanded justice for decades of atrocities with signs that read, “Khamenei and officials responsible for crimes must be tried in an international court,” and insisted that “The regime’s dossier of genocide and crimes against humanity must be referred to the UN Security Council.”

Beyond accountability, their core message was a plea for moral and political clarity. One of the most significant demands was that “It is time for the world to recognize the struggle and resistance of the Iranian people for regime change in Iran.” This is not a call for foreign intervention, but a request for the world to acknowledge the right of the Iranian people to fight for their own liberation and to stand on the right side of history—with the people, not their oppressors.
