Iran, January 20, 2021—The state-run Ebtekar daily warns that if the regime does not respond to the demands of the people, the consequences can be dire. “The society’s outrage is slowly building up. And we can’t predict what will happen when this hatred explodes. But what we know for sure is that this piled-up hatred will one day explode and can turn into a massive blow [to the regime],” the daily wrote on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the economic situation in Iran continues to deteriorate as unemployment, poverty, and unpaid wages have become a common feature of everyday life.

During a visit to the city of Qom, northwest of central Iran, Ahmad Khorram, head of the regime’s Construction Engineering Organization, announced that there are 250,000 unemployed engineers in Iran is 250,000, and also said that 300,000 engineers have no proper housing.

“The Construction Engineering Organization has 550,000 members in seven fields of engineering and in different stages from bachelor to doctorate, which shows the very high capacity of this sector,” the Shafaqna news website wrote on January 18.

According to Mashreghnews, Ahmad Khorram reminded that the government has done nothing for the members of the Engineering Organization and said: “The Engineering Organization has 550,000 members, 60 percent of which either do not work in their specialty or are unemployed or work as taxi drivers.”
