Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, September 8, 2021—Over 412,700 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Wednesday afternoon local time, September 8. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 112,430 around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 96,966 in Tehran, 32,125 in Razavi Khorasan, 27,190 in Isfahan, 25,351 in Khuzestan, 15,830 in Mazandaran, 14,804 in Fars, 14,763 in East Azerbaijan, 14628 in West Azerbaijan, 14,295 in Gilan, 14,115 in Lorestan, 12,028 in Alborz, 12,025 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 11,380 in Qom, 10,777 in Kerman, 7903 in Hamedan, 7698 in Markazi (Central), 7105 in Hormozgan, 6462 in Kurdistan, 5354 in North Khorasan, 5185 in Ardabil, 4704 in Bushehr, and 4544 in Qazvin. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Wednesday as 538 deaths and 26,854 new cases. Furthermore, 7534 patients are in ICUs and 3713 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“Studies indicate that the patients’ death rate is directly related to the shortage of medical professionals. Iran needs to recruit 150,000 nurses to reach the minimum international standard,” said the director of Iran’s House of Nurses on Wednesday. “Arrangements were made for 40,000 people to be hired by our hospitals. To this day 13,000 have been hired and another 10,000 are in the bureaucracy process and have yet to enter the country’s medical apparatus,” this official added, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

Reports indicate Tehran’s Masih Daneshvari Hospital, considered the country’s leading facility in the fight against coronavirus, is extremely crowded and “about to explode.” The medical staff is suffering from severe depression, and they have not gone home for many days. Remdesivir is no longer found in this hospital, nor any IV fluids or anti-inflammation medicine. There is a severe shortage in ventilators and one device is being used for three to four patients, and the necessary connectors have literally been invented by Iran’s medical professionals. Hospitals beds are usually placed two or three meters apart. In this hospital, however, patients are placed just 40-60 centimeters part in order to use the same ventilator. Such practice goes against hygiene regulations, but the staff have no choice.

“We are still in a crisis. The number of new cases is far higher than the fourth peak. The number of people entering our ICU branches is twice those we recorded during the fourth peak, and the death rate also doubles that of the fourth peak,” said the ICU branch director at Mashhad’s Imam Reza Hospital on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The locals of a village located in a mountainous area have all contracted coronavirus. The results of 100 tests showed 60 percent had definitely contracted Covid-19,” said the dean of Dezful Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The high number of patients has caused extreme fatigue among the medical staff. We are forecasting the sixth coronavirus wave, known as the lambda variant, to begin in early October,” said the deputy governor of Fars province on Wednesday, according to the IRGC-linked Javan daily.

“Currently we have 3972 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 528 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours we have lost 56 patients,” according to a Wednesday statement released by the Kashan and Isfahan Medical Sciences universities.

“During the past 24 hours we have lost 29 patients to coronavirus. 2161 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, of which 320 are in ICUs,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The trend of coronavirus patients being hospitalized continues to rise. 1528 people are hospitalized, of which 225 are in ICUs and 61 are under ventilators,” according to a Wednesday statement released by the Kermanshah Medical Sciences University.

“During the past 24 hours we have lost 19 coronavirus patients. There are currently 1227 such patients hospitalized,” said the dean of Alborz Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“With wrong promises and deadly mistakes by some of our officials in procuring the necessary vaccine, along with neglect regarding vital precautionary measures in containing coronavirus, they led thousands of people who contracted the virus to their deaths,” a Wednesday piece published by the state-run Jahan-San’at daily. “The far-from-reality emphasis heard from officials such as the First Vice President on indigenous vaccines and the long-term ban on importing foreign vaccines resulted in thousands of coronavirus patients losing their lives to this deadly mistake… The officials responsible for this humanitarian catastrophe must be prosecuted in public courts for the manslaughter of thousands of innocent human beings.”
