Iran’s regime executes another youth from recent nationwide uprising

On the morning of Tuesday, April 21, the Iran’s regime hanged Amir Ali Mirjafari, a 24-year-old student and computer technician, in Tehran. Mirjafari was a rebellious youth who had been arrested during the massive December-January uprisings.

Iran’s brutal regime continues to utilize its killing machine to exact revenge on the courageous youths who brought the ruling establishment to its knees during the recent nationwide protests. In a desperate bid to terrorize the public and delay the next inevitable uprising, the regime has launched a fresh execution spree across its prisons.

Fabricated charges and heavy-handed sentences

Following his arrest by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization, the regime’s judiciary subjected Mirjafari to a slew of fabricated charges. The judiciary’s Mizan News Agency labeled him a “leader of anti-security actions” and “one of the leaders of the enemy’s collaborative network.”

Under coercion, the regime claimed Mirjafari had admitted to attacking their repressive “security-preserving” forces, which had been violently dispatched to quell the protests. The judiciary’s exhaustive list of charges against the young student included setting fire to a State Security Force (SSF) motorcycle, burning the Basij base in the Gholhak Mosque in Tehran, destroying public property, carrying cold weapons, possessing incendiary materials, blocking thoroughfares by burning trash cans, and directing anti-security gatherings.

In its repetitive and customary manner, the regime’s judiciary sentenced Mirjafari to death on bogus charges of acting against national security through alleged “cooperation with the Zionist regime, the hostile government of America, and other antagonistic groups.” In the same fabricated case, 22 other defendants received heavy and unjust sentences. Eight individuals were sentenced to more than 10 years in prison, while 14 others received sentences of less than 10 years along with supplementary punishments.

A broader pattern of state terror

Mirjafari’s tragic execution is not an isolated incident but part of a terrifying surge in state-sanctioned killings targeting dissidents. His hanging marks the eighth execution specifically related to the December-January uprising.

This execution spree has escalated dramatically in recent weeks. Over the past month alone, the regime has carried out 16 political executions, a grim toll that includes the hanging of eight members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). Prior to Mirjafari’s execution, the regime’s henchmen executed three brave rebellious youths from Qom on March 19, followed by the execution of four other youths from the Nezamabad district of Tehran earlier in April.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), strongly condemned the inhumane execution of Amir Ali Mirjafari and other courageous rebellious youths, noting that such unsparing bloodshed has become a daily routine for the ruling mullahs.

Mrs. Rajavi warned the mullahs and the IRGC that they will undoubtedly be held accountable for these daily atrocities. She emphasized that the regime will reap no benefit from these crimes; instead of silencing the public, this brutality only fuels the flames of the Iranian people’s anger and strengthens the resolve of the rebellious youth to ultimately overthrow the regime.

In light of these escalating crimes, Mrs. Rajavi once again called upon the United Nations Security Council and its member states to categorically condemn this wave of political executions. The international community must take immediate and decisive action to halt the mullahs’ brutal killing machine, save the lives of prisoners currently on death row, and secure the release of all political prisoners across Iran.
