Deeply concerned about increasing public anger over obstruction by regime officials and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei himself in procuring vaccines, on Thursday regime President Ebrahim Raisi emphasized on providing correct information regarding the vaccine. He went on to claim that Iran’s “indigenous vaccine has the least side-effects in comparison to other imported vaccines, which can provide assurance of the people in the face of ill-wishers’ propaganda.”

“The Russians have signed a contract to produce Sputnik vaccines inside Iran to be then shipped to Russian, not Iran!” said a senior regime official on Saturday. “In fact, Russia is relying on other countries to produce its own vaccine. For example, an Iranian company signed a contract with the Russian Sputnik company to produce two million doses of the Sputnik vaccine. This was widely covered in the media, claiming that two million doses of Sputnik vaccines will soon be delivered to Iran’s markets. However, in June a Deputy Health Minister said the Russians had deceived us. Why did we not file a complaint in an international body? Why don’t you tell people the truth?” he asked, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Many preferred that we asked for help from our enemies during this [pandemic] and refer our needs to them, while we don’t trust them and cannot place our society’s health in the hands of our enemies. Using biological weapons is part of their strategies in confronting their enemies,” said Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) chief Hossein Salami on Friday, according to state TV.

“During the past 24 hours 38 people have lost their lives [in West Azerbaijan province]. 2164 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, of which 314 are in ICUs,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Considering the status quo and the coronavirus, unfortunately the city’s cemetery will reach its capacity in less than one year,” said the mayor of Toyserkan in Hamedan province on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

The deputy dean of Ebn Sina Medical University in Hamedan said on Friday that the province has no more hospital beds available. “To resolve this issue, we will be using field hospitals. Necessary coordination to use the capacity of the buildings used for indoor rock-climbing near the Be’sat Hospital have been confirmed to have a number of the patients transferred there,” this official added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“We have no empty beds for the patients.”

Currently we are facing a vaccine shortage in [Ilam] province. Each day the number of patients hospitalized, new cases, and deaths rise across the province,” said the head of Shohada Hospital in the city of Dehloran on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency.

With 16 coronavirus virus deaths in the span of 24 hours the province of Kermanshah set a record on Saturday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“During the past 24 hours 11 patients died of coronavirus. This death toll in one day is considered a record,” according to a Saturday statement released by the Semnan province Covid-19 Task Force.
