“Publishing information about various characteristics of this illness and other related issues must be with the goal of providing maximum hope and refraining from creating concerns and fear among the people,” said Regime President Ebrahim Raisi said on Thursday, indicating concerns about revelations regarding the skyrocketing numbers of coronavirus casualties in Iran. “We must take into consideration that expertise discussions are not to be held on social media, but in their own professional platforms and circles… these issues should not be displayed in public and lead to concerns and fear among the people,” he added.

“The result of ill-advised policies and weak vaccination is crumbling down on our nurses. In our Health Ministry the subject of prevention has no importance and most of the budget is used to purchase medicine and provide medical care for patients because some see their interests in people getting sick to then make more profits. We are not short of nurses just in our ICU branches, but in all areas,” said Mohammad Sharifi Moghaddam, direct of Iran’s House of Nurses on Thursday, according to the state-run Aftab-e Yazd daily.

“Based on a report from the World Health Organization, during the past two weeks Iran has witnessed its darkest conditions regarding the coronavirus. The daily death toll resulting from coronavirus in Iran, based on stats provided by the Health Ministry, has surpassed the 650 mark, meaning one person dying every two-and-a-half minutes. This is a humanitarian tragedy. (Based on unofficial numbers, experts believe the actual figures are 2.5 times higher.) The lambda variant will probably reach Iran by early October,” according to a Thursday piece published in the state-run Sharq daily.

“Eight cities in Khuzestan province lack hospitals. In the city of Ahvaz, we are running short of 2,000 beds. Currently there are 3,000 hospitalized across Khuzestan. Last night there were no beds available in Razi Hospital and we were forced to place patients in the hallways of Khomeini Hospital,” said the dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Qom registered an unbelievable 34 coronavirus deaths today,” according to a Thursday report wired by the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Around 300 coronavirus patients in Qom are in dire conditions and most are held in ICUs. Most of the patients are in need of ventilators. The Covid-19 trend in Qom is not decreasing at all and we are on the verge of having 1000 coronavirus patients hospitalized across the province. The number of dire patients is on the rise,” said the dean of Qom Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“Currently we have 4409 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 531 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours we have lost 64 coronavirus patients,” according to a statement released on Thursday by the Isfahan and Kashan Medical Sciences universities.

“The number of people who have contracted Covid-19 is once again on the rise and we have 1500 positive tests each day. On average 24 people are dying per day,” according to a statement released on Thursday by the East Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University.
