MEK members in Ashraf 3, point of spear in Iranian struggle for freedom

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

Iran, August 18, 2020—“The point of the spear in the struggle for Iranian freedom are the residents of Ashraf 3 who spend their every waking hour thinking about how to maneuver the Iranian people into a new, prosperous, and free future,” said former U.S. Senator Robert Torricelli during his speech at the Free Iran Global Summit 2020, held online at Ashraf 3, in connection to 30,000 locations in 102 countries.

Ashraf 3 is the home of 3000 members of Iran’s main opposition movement, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), in Albania. It has become a source of hope and inspiration for thousands of Iranians, protesting in the streets across Iran chanting: "No Shah, No Sheikh (mullahs)," "Down with the principle of velayat-e faqih," "Death to Khamenei," and "Death to Rouhani,"  and "For 40 years we shed bloodied tears, enough is enough, we'll take a stand.”

Regarding the powder-keg situation of the Iranian society, Senator Torricelli  said every signal from every corner is that the last chapter of the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom is now being written.

Iran’s major protests, new milestone in struggle for freedom

“In every struggle, we look for milestones. The evidence is overwhelming. It is sometimes captured in single events. You can hear in cities and towns all across Iran today a common message. Reformers, hard liners, the game is up or simply, the Shah, the mullahs, dictators all, give us our country back. The people are speaking to us. As in the past we had to speak to them, now the voice is theirs across the country,” Senator Torricelli said.

From December 2017 to January 2020, the world witnessed five nationwide uprisings in Iran that underscored the people’s blazing readiness to overthrow the mullahs’ regime.

The people are outraged after 41 years of brutal repressions, torture and execution of tens of thousands of political prisoners, social oppression against women and youths by the so-called morality police, poverty, unemployment, collapsed economy and plundering of the Iranian people’s wealth and money for terrorism and proxy wars in the region.

“At a time when the world is spending trillions of dollars, marshalling all of its resources to save people from the pandemic, in Iran, tens of thousands of deaths and money is not going to victims or their families or hospitals or buying medical equipment, but to revolutions and terrorist attacks in Lebanon and Yemen, to building an atomic weapon which has done nothing but ostracize Iran from the civilized nations of the world, to pay the salaries of the Revolutionary Guards,” Sen. Torricelli added, outlining the corrupt system of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Senator Torricelli  believes that the younger generation of Iran can earn their own freedom and time of prosperity through the leadership of the Iranian opposition President Maryam Rajavi, head of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and the and the efforts of MEK members in Ashraf.

MEK’s growing support and Tehran’s increasing misinformation campaign

Regarding the Iranian regime’s hysterical response to the Iranian Resistance annual meeting, Robert Torricelli said: “The reaction from Tehran told us all we really needed to know. The vitriol against the MEK, Maryam Rajavi in particular, all the rest of us and all of you, is the evidence we needed that we are on track, that the MEK is on their minds, and a growing looming threat to the regime. To me, it was a confirmation of everything that we’ve been fighting for and evidence that this final chapter, the freeing of Iran, is at hand.”

For years the Iranian regime continues to carry out a campaign of demonization through some western media and journalist, or in the shadows through public relations firms, operatives and companies that are disseminating false information about the MEK.

“This is happening every day. The humiliation of Der Spiegel, one of the world's great publications, citing information patently false, directly from Tehran, and having to have been ordered by a German court to remove it,” Torricelli continued, referring to a Hamburg court ruling on March 21, 2020, ordering the German magazine Der Spiegel to remove two defamatory allegations in its February 16 issue against the MEK and its members in Albania, and not to repeat them.

The reason for this demonic phycological warfare against the Iranian Resistance is the MEK’s growing support among the younger generation and the expansion of its internal network across the country, known as Resistance Units.

“Today, they want to divide protestors inside Iran and within the resistance with the weird allegation that the MEK people in Ashraf are prisoners of their leaders unable to make their own decisions,” explained Ingrid Betancourt, former senator and Colombian presidential candidate, during her speech at the Free Iran Global Summit 2020.

Since the MEK’s relocation to Albania in 2016, the mullahs’ regime has focused on increasing its campaign of demonization and terrorist plots against the MEK through its embassies in Europe.

“These embassies are no longer diplomatic outposts,” Torricelli said, adding “they are outposts for organizing and covering terrorist activity. We also know that many have been used for covers for creation and operations of businesses to steal or buy nuclear technology.”

Senator Torricelli  concluded that it is time for European countries to close the regime’s embassies and consulates and designate the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) and its Quds Force on their terrorist lists.
