Iran, July 30, 2020—The annual Free Iran Global Summit of the Iranian Resistance, held online due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, was considered the world’s largest online gathering by many observers. This huge initiative, connecting 30,000 places in 102 countries, showed the incredible capability and power of the organized Resistance of Iran in confronting the inhuman strategy of the mullahs’ Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei that was set on using the coronavirus pandemic as a tool to maintain his regime.
Clarity of the message of the Free Iran Global Summit 2020
This event had three messages.
First, the PMOI/MEK stands alongside the people inside Iran, the Iranian Resistance Units and their uprising to overthrowing the regime.
Secondly, the PMOI/MEK and its internal network, the Resistance Units, are more determined, organized and powerful than ever to overcome all odds to overthrow the regime.
And third, the international community witnessed that Iran has a viable, powerful, and organized political alternative to replace the religious fascism and establish a democratic republic. An alternative based on gender equality, secularism, and a non-nuclear Iran.

Following the event, fearing the growing support for the MEK, the mullahs’ regime has started a campaign of demonization and spreading lies against the MEK.
The audience of the regime’s warnings
After the 2020 Free Iran Global Summit, the mullahs are extremely concerned about the threat of being overthrown. Organizing the largest online event ever was a powerful demonstration of MEK’s organizing and management capability, and its determination for the cause of freedom. Since the regime cannot hide this clarity, it resorted to issuing warnings to its forces about the MEK.
In this regard, in addition to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) statement against the MEK, the regime’s highest military official, IRGC Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the regime’s Chief of Staff, in a message which the state-run Young Journalists Club news agency published as “Major General Bagheri’s warning to the MEK,” said: “We could see the MEK’s footprint and infiltrating current in creating complex seditions and new scandal-makings of the state’s enemies on cyberspace waiting to deceive people.”
The message of the worldwide online event
The Iranian society is on the brink of a revolution. Tens of millions of poor people have no hope of living under the mullahs’ rule. Millions of unemployed youth see no future, similar to many others who have been looted by the regime.
The right circumstances exist. But for a revolution, the people need hope and a perspective. It is not without reason the regime attempts to use Covid-19 as a tool to spread a constant feeling of despair throughout the society. Despite all warnings by its own experts regarding the coronavirus spread, the regime is insisting on holding Muharram rituals, a historical significance and mourning for the slaying of Ḥusayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad.

Therefore, the 2020 Free Iran Global Summit was a boost of hope and inspiration for millions of people inside Iran to hear the voice of Madam Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), who emphasized: “We can and we must overthrow this regime.”
The three-day sessions of the annual meeting of NCRI members highlighted the fact that “Waves of hope and inspiration of the 2020 Free Iran Global Summit has broken the dark walls that the regime of the Supreme Leader tried to build with high coronavirus casualties.”

Misinformation against the MEK, a sign of the mullahs’ final phase
In response to the abovementioned initiatives, the mullahs, their lobbies and apologists in the West resorted to spreading lies and launching a new disinformation campaign to demonize the Iranian Resistance and Madam Rajavi.
But as Adam Ereli, former U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain, said during his speech that no matter how hard the regime tries to fuel misinformation campaigns against the MEK, convince journalists, governments, and think tanks around this concept that the MEK is an outlaw organization, that it doesn’t represent Iranians, and that it has no following inside Iran, it all indicates to many that the opposite is true.
Alejo Vidal-Quadras, former vice-president of the European Parliament, had similar remarks on this topic. “The regime is unable to bully us and justice can be achieved. The mullahs are aggressive when they see the fear in their interlocutors. But they stood back as the cowards they are when they confront strong and resolute opponents,” he explained.
