Online opposition rally widely viewed and welcomed inside Iran

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, July 21, 2020—The Iranian Resistance “Free Iran Global Summit 2020” annual meeting, held online on July 17, was widely supported and viewed inside the country.

The event was held in the exceptional and special circumstances imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, which has pushed the world into social distancing rules and lockdown. The online rally connected more than 30,000 locations in 102 countries of the world, including Iran, where internet access is very limited.

More than 1,000 of personalities, political leaders, human rights activists, and other dignitaries from around the world attended the “Free Iran Global Summit 2020,” and some of them described it as “unimaginable,” and “an exciting technological achievement.”

Many Iranians inside the country and across the globe sent videos and personal messages on the social media, announcing their participation and support for the struggle of People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) to overthrow the clerical regime.

Many sent messages in which they held posters that read:

“Iran will be free”

“We are with you at the Free Iran gathering”

“We support the Free Iran gathering 2020”

“Down with Khamenei, hail to Rajavi, long live Iran”

“We announce our solidarity with the Free Iran gathering and the MEK in Ashraf 3.”

Iranians also sent various messages in support of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and her ten-point plan for a free and democratic Iran by holding posters that read:

“Iran, Maryam, Freedom”

“Dear Maryam, we are with you.”

“Dear Maryam, you are the hope of our people”

Many of these videos messages are part of the organized activities of the Iranian Resistance Units, which is an internal network of the MEK. These activities were held in cities such as Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad, Mazandaran, Khoy, Lorestan, Gorgan, Zabol, Yazd, Behbahan, Qom, Ahvaz, Bandar Abbas, Shahriar, Abadan, Babol, Mashhad, Karaj, Hashtgerd, Robat Karim, Rudsar, Khuzestan, Dezful, Khorramshahr, Khorasan, Bandar Anzali, and Rudsar.

“I salute your dignity and honor. I have thousands of words to say from my heart. The soul of MEK founders and all the martyrs is happy and in peace. MEK cannot be destroyed. We will stand until the end and defend this Resistance,” said a citizen from Khoy.

Another Iranian citizen from Shiraz said: “Hail to the MEK and hail to Maryam Rajavi and Massoud Rajavi. I announce my support for the MEK.”

While watching the gathering a person in Tehran held a small poster that read: “I will always be with Maryam Rajavi and the MEK in Ashraf 3 and I support you.”

The growing support for the MEK, especially trough out Iran, has forced the mullahs’ regime to pursue a campaign of demonization against the Iranian Resistance which confirms that the Resistance poses an existential threat to Iran’s theocratic dictatorship.

As Mrs. Maryam Rajavi mentioned in her speech on July 17 the Free Iran Global Summit “echoes the voice of the Iranian people’s 40-year Resistance against religious dictatorship and fascism and for freedom and democracy” and was the voice of the “largest, the longest-standing, most sophisticated, and most serious organized resistance in Iran’s history.”

This summit was also the voice of the Resistance Units and rebellious cities across Iran who have put an end to a history of despair, incredulity and inaptitude, replacing it with the pledge of “we can, and we must overthrow the theocratic dictatorship of the mullahs.
