Qasem Soleimani’s crimes against the PMOI

On the anniversary of Qassem Soleimani’s death, the Iranian regime’s leaders continue to mourn the death of their terror mastermind and former head of the terrorist Quds Force. This comes at a time when, with Bashar al-Assad’s downfall, Soleimani’s crimes in Syria have been unveiled, igniting the anger and hatred of the Syrian people against this criminal.

While the world knows Qassem Soleimani for his collaboration with Bashar al-Assad, his role in the massacre and forced displacement of millions of Syrians, and the destruction of cities like Aleppo, as well as his violent actions in Iraq, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), identified as the regime’s primary threat, has been the first target of Soleimani’s killings and atrocities.

Qassem Soleimani, as the commander of the IRGC’s 41st Division, participated in operations against the PMOI during the “Eternal Light” operation. Following this, he continued as a key leader and direct perpetrator of attacks against the PMOI.

As the head of the Quds Force, Soleimani was the primary figure responsible for more than 90 terrorist operations against the PMOI and Ashraf residents in Iraq. These ranged from a missile attack on Faezeh Base on June 22, 1997, to the missile barrage on Camp Liberty on October 29, 2015, which resulted in the death of 24 PMOI members.

During this period, Soleimani was responsible for numerous atrocities, including the massacre of PMOI members on July 28–29, 2009, claiming 13 lives; an attack on Ashraf residents using Humvees and direct gunfire on April 8, 2011, killing 36; and orchestrating repeated missile barrages by IRGC and Iraqi forces under his command against Camp Liberty in February 2013, June 2013, December 2013, and October 2015.

All these assaults, aimed at the massacre and annihilation of the PMOI, were carried out under the direct supervision of this criminal.

This is why the regime’s leaders compete to praise him and his crimes in the interest of preserving the regime.

On Thursday, January 2, during a ceremony in Tehran marking the anniversary of Soleimani’s death, regime president Masoud Pezeshkian said, “His existence and his path can serve as a lasting model for the journey we must undertake.”

In his nauseating flattery of Soleimani, Pezeshkian added, “I have always been proud of Major General Soleimani and will continue to be.”

Thus, as the Iranian Resistance has previously stated, the stance regarding Qassem Soleimani, his death, and his punishment draws the boundaries of friends and foes in the region. Those who align themselves with the regime and Qasem Soleimani reveal their reactionary nature.

Now that the dictatorship of Bashar al-Assad has fallen, collapsing the regime’s strategic depth, Tehran increasingly sees the need to rely on Soleimani’s legacy to rally its dispirited forces.

However, the reality is that this nauseating propaganda for a criminal who was the murderer of PMOI members and the people of Iran and the region only fuels greater public anger and hatred towards him and his master.

During their uprising, the Syrian people, while dismantling symbols of Assad’s dictatorship in liberated cities, particularly at the Iranian regime’s embassy in Damascus, tore down pictures of Qassem Soleimani.

Following the death of this criminal, the oppressed people suffering from the tyranny and brutality of the Iranian in the region, especially in Iraq, trampled on his photos and symbols along with pictures of regime leader Ali Khamenei during their protests and uprisings.
