Despite the Iranian regime’s relentless campaign to terrorize the public through executions, the spirit of resistance remains unextinguished. On May 29, PMOI Resistance Units in Tehran and Karaj publicly honored PMOI martyrs Hamed Validi and Mohammad (Nima) Massoum Shahi on the 40th day of their brutal execution by the clerical regime. The rebellious youth bravely installed flower wreaths bearing the images of Hamed and Mohammad in public places. In the capital, Tehran, they displayed a placard that read: “Commemorating executed PMOI members commander Hamed and Mohammad on the 40th day of their martyrdom.”
The price of resistance and a flawed judicial farce
The state murder of these two political prisoners highlights the regime’s desperate bid to stifle dissent. Hamed Validi, a 45-year-old civil engineer, and Mohammad Massoum Shahi, a 38-year-old technical worker, were hanged on April 20, 2026. The men were arrested in Tehran on May 13, 2025, and subjected to severe physical torture and interrogation.

In October 2025, the Karaj Revolutionary Court sentenced them to death on fabricated charges including “Moharebeh” (waging war against God) and “assembly and collusion against national security.” The absurdity of the regime’s judicial process was exposed when the Chief Justice of Alborz province accused them of espionage tied to a 12-day war—ignoring the glaring chronological flaw that the men were arrested a full month before that war even began.
The regime’s smokescreen and fear of the PMOI
To justify the executions, state-run media outlets like Mizan and Tasnim falsely labeled the two PMOI members as a “spy network linked to Mossad,” claiming they possessed explosive projectiles and mortar-making equipment. The regime deliberately paints political prisoners as foreign spies to conceal their true identity as PMOI members.
The ruling clerics are deeply terrified of the growing gravitation of Iranian youth toward the nationwide network of Resistance Units. Acknowledging that these brave fighters are native dissidents shatters the long-standing propaganda that the Iranian Resistance lacks domestic support. Ironically, despite efforts to conceal their identities, the regime-affiliated English-language website WANA had explicitly acknowledged their connection to the MEK in a September 27 report.
A broader wave of executions amid international silence
The murders of Hamed and Mohammad do not happen in a vacuum. Under the cover of external conflicts, the crumbling apparatus is systematically wiping out dissidents, a move reminiscent of the 1988 massacre. These brutal hangings follow the recent executions of six other PMOI members and dozens of protesters arrested during the massive December-January uprisings.

The courageous public tributes by the Resistance Units prove that these rapid-fire executions project profound weakness, not state strength. As Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), stated at the time of Hamed and Nima’s martyrdom: “Just as the Shah could not save his rule through repression and bloodshed, the criminal mullahs cannot escape the rising anger of the people of Iran and the determination of the rebellious youth.”
