Iran: PMOI/MEK network targeting regime centers, icons

Reported by PMOI/MEK

Iran, May 28, 2019 – Members of “Resistance Units,” a network associated to the Iranian opposition group People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), are marking the 47th anniversary of May 25, 1972, when the Shah’s dictatorship executed PMOI/MEK founders.

Mohammad Hanifnejad, Saeid Mohsen and Asghar Badizadegan, along with two senior PMOI/MEK members, Mahmoud Asgarizadeh and Abdolrasul Meshkinfam, were executed by firing squads back in 1972.

PMOI/MEK Resistance Units marked this anniversary by keeping alive the fire of their resistance, courage and sacrifice. Resistance unit members are also expressing readiness to continue their struggle to bring about democratic regime change and freedom/democracy for the entire Iranian nation.

In Isfahan, central Iran, Resistance Unit 297 set fire to a sign of a Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Basij base to voice the Iranian people’s hatred of this entity. It is worth noting that the U.S State Department recently designated the IRGC as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization” (FTO).

In Khorasan Razavi Province, northeast Iran, members of Resistance Unit 650 also set fire to an IRGC Basij base focusing on oppressing Iranian women.

In West Azerbaijan Province, northwest Iran, members of Resistance Unit 617 set fire to a sign promoting the regime’s state police with images of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and mullahs’ regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini. This sign was located at the entrance of the city of Salmas.

The IRGC and the Iranian regime are the source of terrorism and warmongering in the Middle East and across the globe.

Facing this global threat, Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), once again stress on the Iranian Resistance’s demands on behalf of the Iranian opposition:

– Designation Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) in their entireties as terrorist entities by the U.S. and the European Union;

– Expulsion of the mullahs’ MOIS agents and IRGC Quds Force operatives from the U.S. and Europe.

Now, the world is witnessing how the IRGC is a real threat in the Middle East. Looking at the IRGC’s record, we can clearly see the IRGC’s involvement in major terror attacks:

1983 – U.S. Marines base bombing in Beirut, Lebanon

1996 – Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia

2006 – Al-Askari mosque bombing in Samarra, Iraq

Additionally, the IRGC is the main supporter of terrorism and fundamentalism, and the element behind instability and massacres.

A number of IRGC global terrorism victims:

1989 – Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou – Austria

1990 – Kazem Rajavi – Switzerland

1991 – Shahpour Bakhtiar – France

1992 – Mykonos Assassination – Germany

1993 – Mohammad Hossein Naghdi – Italy

1994 – AMIA bombing, killing 85 people – Argentina

1996 – Zahra Rajabi – Turkey

In parallel with the IRGC, Iran’s MOIS supports plans and executes assassinations against the opposition.

Iran's terror apparatus remains active in Europe as seen in recent MOIS bombing plots targeting the PMOI/MEK and a massive Iranian opposition rally in Paris.

We reiterate Maryam Rajavi’s demands:

– Blacklisting the MOIS in their entirety by the U.S. & European Union

– Expulsion of MOIS & IRGC Quds Force operatives from the U.S. & Europe

The solution lies in standing firm against the Iranian regime's state-sponsored terrorism.
