In July 1988, the National Liberation Army (NLA) of Iran embarked on a massive operation to overthrow the Iranian regime. The operation, known as Operation Eternal Light, became a historic event in the history of the struggle for freedom in Iran. More than 1,300 freedom fighters laid down their lives during that operation and set an example to keep the flame of resistance alit.
On the 36th anniversary of the 1988 Operation Eternal Light by the National Liberation Army, PMOI Resistance Units commemorated this operation across the cities of the Iran. They honored the memory of the martyrs and reaffirmed their commitment to completing the unfinished mission, keeping the ideal of freedom, for which the martyrs sacrificed their lives, alive in the hearts of the freedom-loving people of Iran.

In Tehran, resistance units distributed leaflets with images of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and the message: “Operation Eternal Light shook the foundations of the Velayat-e Faqih regime.”
The leaflets also carried messages such as “Long live the National Liberation Army. We shall return.”
In another part of Tehran, leaflets were distributed with the image of Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), with the message: “Operation Eternal Light is an inspiration for resistance, freedom, and equality.”
These activities were simultaneously carried out in several other cities, including Karaj in Alborz province, Sanandaj in Kurdistan province, Semnan in eastern Iran, Bandar Abbas on the southern coast near the Persian Gulf, Mashhad in the east, Khorramabad in Lorestan province, Ramsar in northern Iran, Qazvin, Isfahan, and Kermanshah.
Resistance Units are the network of PMOI activists who carry out anti-regime activities despite facing threats by the regime’s security forces. Their widespread activities across Iran’s cities indicates the deep-rooted presence of the resistance throughout the country. It indicates that despite its repressive measures, the regime has not been able to stifle the voice and flame of freedom.
A member of the resistance in Tehran remarked, “The resilience and determination of the Iranian youth are unstoppable. We are inspired by the sacrifices of our martyrs, and we will continue their mission until Iran is free.”
Another activist in Mashhad said, “Operation Eternal Light remains a beacon of hope and resistance. We will keep fighting until we achieve the freedom and equality that our martyrs dreamed of.”
At the same time, Resistance Units in different cities projected images of Iranian Resistance leaders in public places in different cities and commemorated Operation Eternal Light.

Resistance Units in Zahedan continue activities against the regime
On Friday, July 26, Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran, witnessed a new wave of activities by Resistance Units against the mullahs’ regime. These units raised banners with new slogans expressing the Iranian people’s determination to overthrow the regime and achieve freedom, undeterred by the regime’s attempts at repression and arrests.
The resistance units raised banners reading “From Zahedan to Tehran, the time for revolution and justice has come” and “The blood of the uprising martyrs and the martyrs of the 1988 massacre boils,” highlighting the youth’s persistence in continuing their struggle until their goals are achieved. The slogans included strong messages such as “Sworn by the blood of comrades, we will remain steadfast until the end” and “The voice of the Iranian people is to punish the murderers.”
The Resistance Units emphasized the slogan “Down with the oppressor, be it the shah or the mullahs,” reaffirming Iranians’ rejection of all kinds of dictatorship. They also raised the slogan “Women, Resistance, Freedom,” highlighting the importance of empowering women in building a prosperous future for Iran.

Other slogans reflected the Iranian people’s rejection of the regime’s justifications and brutal repression, such as “From Zahedan to Tehran, my life for Iran.”
The banners also included messages like “From Zahedan to Tehran, resistance is a legitimate right of the Iranian people,” “Darker days await the regime, the countdown has begun,” “No to dictatorship, yes to a democratic republic,” and “The monarchy and the mullahs’ regime, a century of crime,” reflecting a resolute rejection of dictatorship and a demand for a democratic republic.
