PMOI Resistance Units reject Iranian regime’s sham presidential elections

As Iran’s regime prepares for its upcoming presidential elections to replace Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash on May 19, regime officials and candidates are doing their utmost to compel people to cast their votes and place their hopes in one of the six candidates. Through television shows, debates, and other publicity stunts, the regime is trying to convince the people that their problems will be solved if they vote in the elections.

But none of the regime’s theatrics and propaganda effort are fooling the people of Iran. This premature presidential election comes on the heels of a parliamentary election in February, in which the people made their sentiments toward the regime crystal clear through a mass boycott of the ballot boxes. According to reports by the PMOI’s network inside Iran, the parliamentary elections had a record-low turnout of 8 percent. The people of Iran have made it clear that they will settle for nothing less than regime change.

And the PMOI Resistance Units are reflecting that sentiment with their activities across the country. In cities and towns in every corner of Iran, Resistance Units are sending messages and carrying out activities that call for the boycott of the elections and the rejection of the regime in its entirety. Their message is clear: “It is not time for elections—it is time for a revolution.”

In Zahedan, Resistance Units members held placards with the message: “Maryam Rajavi is the symbol of resistance against the mullahs’ regime”

In Tehran, the Resistance Units installed posters of Maryam Rajavi on walls in the city. They also held placards that read, “Our choice is Maryam Rajavi.”

In Sanandaj, the Resistance Units installed posters of Maryam Rajavi on walls in different locations.

In Isfahan, the Resistance Units held placards with images of Maryam Rajavi and the message, “Like the shah dictatorship, the mullah’s regime will inevitably be overthrown.”

In Astara, Resistance Units held placards with the message “Democracy and freedom with Maryam Rajavi” and “Woman Life Freedom.”

In Kermanshah, Resistance Units held placards with the slogans “Our vote is regime change” and “It’s not the time for elections—it’s time for a revolution.”

In Qaemshahr, the message of the Resistance Units was “Yes to democratic republic” and “Our choice is Maryam Rajavi.”

Dozens of similar activities were carried out in other cities and towns. The truth is that this regime has shown time and again that elections have no meaning under the brutal rule of the mullahs. The country is run by the unelected supreme leader and the criminal Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). The presidential candidates are strictly vetted for their loyalty to the supreme leader, and they are all complicit in the regime’s crimes in one way or another. This is why millions of Iranians continue to suffer from poverty, unemployment, rising costs of living, and a crackdown on the most basic freedoms while regime officials and insiders continue to live in impunity for their crimes and misdeeds.
