Wednesday marks the 27th day of Iran’s nationwide uprising against the mullahs’ rule despite the regime imposing heavy crackdown measures on protesters and even ordinary people in cities across the country. Activists in numerous cities and towns in Iran’s Kurdish provinces, including Sanandaj, Saqqez, Baneh, Marivan, Sarpol Zahab and others are witnessing local storeowners on strike in support of brave protesters who protest the regime’s rule. One report indicated a similar strike by storeowners in Mashhad, Iran’s second largest city, located in the northeast.
Starting early Wednesday morning authorities across the country began imposing a nationwide internet blackout, bringing mobile phone internet providers to a complete shutdown and significantly lowering the speed of broadband internet services.

Nonetheless, people in different cities continued to hold protest rallies and found ways to send images and videos outside of Iran. In Isfahan, protesters were chanting, “Death to Khamenei!” calling for the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime in Iran.
Protests were intense in Mashhad on Wednesday, especially in the Kowthar district. Protesters were chanting “Death to the dictator!” while security forces were shooting teargas at them.

At the same time, protesters were resisting anti-riot forces who were sent to disperse them. Armed plainclothes agents and anti-riot forces were sent to attack and disperse protesters in Tehran.
“This is the year Khamenei is overthrown!”
In Valiasr, security forces opened fire on protesters. In Ferdows Blvd, protesters were chanting, “Death to the dictator!” In Shariati St, a crowd had gathered and were chanting, “This is the year [Khamenei] is overthrown!” An like previous days, high school students held protest rallies and shouted anti-regime slogans, “Death to the dictator!”
The people of Gohardasht held protest rallies on Wednesday despite heavy security measures. Protesters were chanting anti-regime slogans, including “We don’t want the Islamic Republic!”
Iran university students also held protest rallies in several cities. In Rasht, the students of Gilan University expressed national solidarity by chanting, “From Zahedan to Gilan, my life for Iran!” In Bushehr, the students of Persian Gulf University were chanting, “Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!” In Tehran, there are reports of security forces attacking the rally of Tehran University students.
As in previous day, protests intensified at night in several cities. Protests continued at night in several districts of Tehran. In Sadeghieh, Sattarkhan, and Shariati, slogans of “Death to the dictator!” were heard. In Naziabad, there were clashes between protesters and security forces. In several areas, protesters blocked the roads with fire and overturned dumpsters.
In Arak, protesters chanted anti-regime slogans throughout the day. At night, they continued their rallies and set fire to a regime propaganda billboard.
Protests continued at night in several Kurdish cities. In Bukan, Marivan, Saqqez, and Mahabad, protesters lit fires to block roads and prevent the movement of security forces. Protesters chanted anti-regime slogans and continued their rallies despite security forces opening fire on them.
Tuesday night activists in several cities reported intense clashes as protesters confronted the regime’s oppressive security forces. This included the cities of Qom, Yazdanshahr, Borazjan, Saqqez, and Sanandaj. In some of these cities, in addition to Baneh, Divandarreh, and others there were reports of clashes during the day that continued after sunset.
College and high school students in the cities of Tehran, Bandar-e Anzali, Mahabad, Rasht, Kermanshah launched anti-regime demonstrations and chanting slogans against regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Early Tuesday morning there were reports from Abadan in southwest Iran as workers in the famous Abadan Refinery, one of the largest such facilities in the Middle East, went on strike. This is a continuation of reports of Monday’s strike launched by workers of a major petrochemical site in the city of Asaluyeh, Bushehr Province, in southern Iran. Workers of the South Kaveh Steel Company in Bandar Abbas, also in southern Iran, held a protest gathering on Tuesday in support of the ongoing nationwide uprising.
Such supporting measures from Iran’s oil, gas, petrochemical, and industrial sectors are sending strong signals to the rulers in Tehran.
These protests began following the death of Mahsa Amini. Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, a 22-year-old woman from the city of Saqqez in Kurdistan Province, western Iran, who traveled to Tehran with her family, was arrested on Tuesday, September 13, at the entry of Haqqani Highway by the regime’s so-called “Guidance Patrol” and transferred to the “Moral Security” agency.
She was brutally beaten by the morality police and died of her wounds in a Tehran hospital on September 16. The event triggered protests that quickly spread across Iran and rekindled the people’s desire to overthrow the regime.
Iranian opposition NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi praised Iran’s brave protesters, especially those in Sanandaj, and the courageous workers of Abadan Refinery. “The brave men and women of Sanandaj are standing up to the IRGC guards. I urge everyone to rush to their aid. Oppressors are doomed to fail vis-à-vis your determination. The world must condemn the atrocities in Sanandaj, Zahedan, and across Iran, prosecute the regime’s leaders,” she tweeted.
The NCRI President-elect also met with Representatives Steve Cohen and Danny Davis of the U.S. House Representatives and discussed the leading role of women in Iran’s protests and the Iranian people’s desire for regime change in Iran by the people of Iran. The crimes being perpetrated by the regime and the killing of innocent youth, young girls and boys across Iran were also highlighted by Madam Rajavi.
“We all in our caucus are for an independent and free Iran that respects the rule of law, the people’s rights,” Rep. Cohen of Tennessee emphasized. Rep. Davis commended the protests in Iran and reiterated, “The struggle must continue, and we will conquer without a doubt.”
