Iran’s regime executes protesters in desperate bid to stave off another uprising

At dawn on Sunday, April 5, 2026, the Iranian regime committed another horrific crime by executing two brave rebellious youths, 31-year-old Shahin Vahedparast and 19-year-old Mohammad-Amin Biglari. Both were key participants in the massive December 2025–January 2026 nationwide uprisings that brought the clerical establishment to its knees.

Reeling from recent uprisings and the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the paralyzed regime is systematically purging political dissidents and spread terror among the public. The consecutive executions of these young protesters highlight the sheer brutality of a state terrified of its own people and desperate to prevent another imminent revolt.

Fabricated charges and the regime’s confessions of vulnerability

Vahedparast and Biglari were sentenced to death on fabricated charges of “moharebeh” (waging war against God) and “corruption on earth” by the notorious executioner Judge Abolqasem Salavati in Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. Their sentences were later upheld by Branch 9 of the Supreme Court of the regime’s judiciary.

However, the regime’s own judiciary news agency, Mizan, unwittingly highlighted the youths’ bravery while exposing the state’s vulnerabilities. On April 5, Mizan reported that the youths had “attacked a classified military location and, while participating in the destruction and arson of this sensitive site, attempted to gain access to the armory.”

Mizan’s report also admitted the regime’s deep-seated fear of the protesters’ tactics, stating that during the January uprisings, “police stations, Basij bases, and other prohibited military sites were among the sensitive points that terrorists intended to infiltrate.” In reality, the judiciary was referring to a courageous act in which rebellious youths attacked the 185th Basij Base of the IRGC on Damavand Street in eastern Tehran, setting the suppressive center on fire and confiscating some of its weapons.

A broader campaign of terror: The fate of Amirhossein Hatami and other dissidents

The executions of Vahedparast and Biglari are part of a broader, systematically orchestrated campaign of terror. On March 31, the two youths were transferred to solitary confinement in Ghezel Hesar Prison alongside three other uprising prisoners: Amirhossein Hatami, Abolfazl Salehi, and Ali Fahim.

Tragically, 18-year-old Amirhossein Hatami was hanged on April 2. Highlighting Hatami’s absolute defiance, Mizan quoted him explicitly stating during interrogation: “My goal in participating in the riots was to overthrow the system, and I attacked and entered this location with the aim of finding firearms and ammunition.” Hatami’s execution raises immediate alarm for the lives of Abolfazl Salehi and Ali Fahim, who remain in solitary confinement.

This brutality capped off a bloody week in which the regime also executed six members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). On March 30, Mohammad Taghavi, 59, and Ali Akbar Daneshvarkar, 59, were sent to the gallows. The following morning, Babak Alipour, 34, and Pouya Ghobadi, 33, were executed. On April 4, the regime executed Vahid Bani Amerian, 33, and Abolhassan Montazer, 66.

The cruelty escalated further on the night of March 29, when anti-riot guards violently raided Ward 4 in Ghezel Hesar prison, brutally beating inmates and forcing at least 19 into solitary confinement hours before the executions began.

The Iranian Resistance’s stance and call to the international community

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), described the brutal executions as indicative of the mullahs’ regime’s desperation in the face of an angry public, as well as its profound fear of an escalating uprising aimed at its overthrow.

“The brutal execution of the courageous young men Mohammad Amin Biglari and Shahin Vahedparast in Iran reveals the clerical regime’s deepening desperation in the face of an outraged people, as well as its growing fear of an expanding uprising and the eventual collapse of its rule,” Mrs. Rajavi stated. She emphasized that this unaccountable bloodletting will not go unanswered by the combatants of freedom, who will forever dismantle the religious dictatorship from the land of Iran.

“Iran’s freedom fighters and defiant youth will rise to confront this injustice and will bring an end to religious dictatorship in Iran once and for all,” she said.

The international community can no longer remain passive while the Iranian regime operates a continuous machinery of death. The Iranian Resistance has repeatedly urged the United Nations Security Council to adopt urgent, binding decisions to halt these criminal acts and take immediate action to save the lives of dissidents who remain at severe risk of execution throughout Iran.
