Iran, August 12, 2021—On Wednesday, Ebrahim Raisi, the Iranian regime’s new president, handed the candidates for his cabinet to the Majlis (parliament). Most of his future ministers are, unsurprisingly, among regime officials with strong ties to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and who are known for terrorism, human rights violations, or financial corruption.
Esmail Khatib, who will serve as the intelligence minister, has a long history in the intelligence branch of the IRGC, was a long-standing member of the office of regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei, and has also served in the Astan-e Quds foundation, one of the institutions that the regime uses to absorb Iran’s wealth and assets for its evil goals.
Hosseing Amir Abdollahian, the upcoming foreign minister, has a long history in the regime’s diplomacy and was very close to terror mastermind Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a January 2020 attack in Iraq. Amir Abdollahian has a long history of enabling the regime’s terrorist policies in Iraq and other countries of the region. He was a member of the political-security committee of the Iranian nuclear negotiations team.
Massoud Mirkazemi, the head of the Budget and Planning Organization, was the trade minister and oil minister in the government of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. His name was mentioned several times in the Babak Zanjani oil embezzlement case, worth billions of dollars.
Javad Oji, slated to head the oil ministry, was deputy oil minister in Ahmadinejad’s government and is among the managers of the Mostazafan Foundation, another corrupt financial institution overseen by Khamenei.
Ahmad Vahidi, the upcoming interior minister, was the commander of the terrorist IRGC Quds Force in the 1990s. He is wanted by the Interpol for his role in the bombing of the AMIA center in Argentina in 1994. He also served as defense minister during Ahmadinejad’s presidency.
Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili, nominated to head the culture ministry, served as the culture and social advisor to Raisi when the latter headed the judiciary branch. He was also the representative of the judiciary in the regime’s national television. He has been highly promoted by the IRGC as the “face of the revolution.”
Rostam Ghassemi, appointed as construction minister, was Ahamdinejad’s oil minister. He was one of the main suspects in the Babak Zanjani dossier but claimed to know nothing of the issue when he was summoned to court.
Hossein Baghgoli, the future education minister, was a member of the Astan-e Quds youth foundation and has had a long history promoting the regime’s propaganda in the education system.
Bahram Einollahi, the health minister, has various roles in government institutions, including the Cultural Revolution Council, education assistant of the health minister. He also served as the clinical deputy of the IRGC.
With a full roster of crooks and criminals and headed by a mass murderer who is known for his role in the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners, the regime’s new government is only projected to make things worse for the Iranian people.
