Iran, August 12, 2021—Over 358,900 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Thursday afternoon local time, August 12. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 96,215, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 84,296 in Tehran, 24,160 in Isfahan, 22,596 in Khuzestan, 22,335 in Razavi Khorasan, 13,940 in Mazandaran, 13,653 in East Azerbaijan, 13,220 in Lorestan, 12,888 in West Azerbaijan, 12,462 in Fars, 11,745 in Gilan, 10,555 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 10,518 in Alborz, 9013 in Kerman, 8515 in Golestan, 6568 in Kermanshah, 6278 in Yazd, 6215 in Hormozgan, 4360 in Ardabil, 3643 in Ilam, and 3326 in South Khorasan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Thursday as 568 deaths and 39,049 new cases. Furthermore, 7048 patients are in ICUs (new pandemic record) and 4938 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force, made unprecedented and shocking remarks on Wednesday regarding the Covid-19 crisis in Iran. “When the first coronavirus case was identified in Qom, we asked for the city to be quarantined and I said the elections there should be postponed. However, some were ridiculing me and saying this illness will be controlled quite easily. The price of coronavirus medicine is many times that of the money needed to import vaccines. However, they did not allow us to import vaccines because they thought it was expensive,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“When World Health Organization experts came to Iran, instead of conducting advisory sessions with them, we constantly asked to praise our medical apparatus in the media. We concealed the death toll from the WHO. We returned global aid and those from Doctors Without Borders at the airport, while we had no adequate information about the virus, and we did not use international advisory support. Why doesn’t China, being our close friend, deliver enough vaccines for us? Our ambassadors in foreign countries were not seeking to procure vaccines. I talked to the Japanese ambassador, and he said the Iranian ambassador had not requested vaccines at all. What kind of diplomacy is this? There is no solution other than a two-week lockdown that we need to start today. We only have five days of vaccines in stock and cannot increase the pace. If we had a large number of vaccine doses, we would double the number of vaccination centers. We have extremely disturbing reports for the coming weeks and conditions will be far worse,” Zali continued.

“Don’t get me started on saying which apparatus suggested to import vaccines from China? And which apparatus is attacking the most important foreign vaccine provider, day in and day out? And which apparatus rejected plans to import 20 million vaccines from Europe? Need I say more?” said former regime Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The country needs to take battle formations when it comes to coronavirus. 118 hospitals and 102 temporary medical centers are active in Tehran to provide medical care for Covid-19 patients,” Zali said on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“If we want to tell people the truth, right now there are 43,000 people hospitalized across the country. If we don’t take urgent action these 43,000 may increase to 150,000. Then the death toll in this peak will reach 15,000,” said the head of Tehran’s Baghiatollah Hospital on Thursday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“In Razavi Khorasan province there are over 3200 people hospitalized, of which 550 are in ICUs. Hospitals have reached their capacity limits and the last remaining medical professionals are at work now. Cemetery personnel are facing difficult conditions and they’re using daily workers to bury the dead and dig new graves. The Beheshte Rezvan Cemetery was first used to prepare the corpses for burial. However, due to the rise in the coronavirus death toll this cemetery is both preparing the corpses and burying them,” according to a Thursday report wired by the ISNA news agency.

“During the past two weeks the number of patients hospitalized has increased five-fold. The special coronavirus branch has reached its full capacity,” said the head of Shohada Hospital in the city of Izeh in Khuzestan province on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“All state, private and temporary hospitals in [Gilan] province are filled with coronavirus patients. More than 2000 patients are hospitalized in various hospitals,” said the dean of Gilan Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“4815 coronavirus patients are hospitalized and 34 have lost their lives in the past 24 hours,” according to a statement released Thursday by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University in Fars province.

“We have been forced to place patients in the hospital courtyard. We have 138 beds but hospitalized 168 coronavirus patients. Those seeking initial medical care for Covid-19 symptoms are receiving medical attention in a tent in a temporary facility in the courtyard,” said the head of Gharazi Hospital in the city of Sirjan in Kerman province on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“More than 1500 patients are receiving medical care. Many times more are quarantined in their homes and this rise in comparison to previous peaks is extremely dangerous and critical,” said the governor of Ardabil province on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The number of people hospitalized in Isfahan province currently stands at 3119, of which 437 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours we have lost 34 coronavirus patients,” said the spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency.
