“The sixth coronavirus wave in Markazi [Central] province has begun at a high rate. With the fragile status that this illness has established in this province, at any moment we may witness the beginning of a new Covid-19 crisis. The Health Ministry has registered the two cities of Tafresh and Ashtian as red zones, and with the city of Zarandieh added to this list, the number of high-risk cities in this province now stands at three,” according to a statement released on Monday by the Arak Medical Sciences University.

“We currently have 281 coronavirus patients in ICUs, of which 54 are under ventilators. During the past 24 hours we have registered 855 new coronavirus cases, of which 19 percent were hospitalized. Seventeen patients lost their lives in the past 24 hours,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

In Fars province the number of people being hospitalized each day remains in the triple digits. During the past 24 hours 22 new patients have been hospitalized and the current number of patients hospitalized stands at 1627, of which 200 are in ICUs, according to a report wired on Monday by the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“The increasing number of people seeking initial medical care is concerning. If we continue with this trend we may enter the sixth coronavirus peak,” said the spokesperson of Alborz Province Covid-19 Task Force on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“During the past 24 hours we have registered 240 new coronavirus cases. This indicates an 82 percent increase in comparison to the day before,” said the dean of Qazvin Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the Tasnim news agency.

“This week the number of red cities doubled in comparison to last week. We are witnessing these developments as schools and universities are reopened and working offsite has been cancelled. These have the potential of sounding the alarm bell of the sixth wave,” according to a piece published on Monday by the state-run Setareyeh-Sobh daily.
