Iran coronavirus update: Over 444,200 deaths, doubts raised about vaccination process

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, September 30, 2021—Over 444,200 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Thursday afternoon local time, September 30. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 120,428 around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 104,156 in Tehran, 36,455 in Razavi Khorasan, 29,700 in Isfahan, 27,225 in Khuzestan, 15,934 in Fars, 15,918 in West Azerbaijan, 15,708 in East Azerbaijan, 13,008 in Alborz, 12,650 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 12,205 in Qom, 11,772 in Kerman, 10,005 in Golestan, 7969 in Kermanshah, 7353 in Yazd, 7027 in Kurdistan, and 5714 in North Khorasan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Thursday as 268 deaths and 14,078 new cases, of which 2144 were hospitalized. Furthermore, 5938 patients are in ICUs.

“Those getting vaccine shots are not receiving credible information. The Sinopharm vaccine has side-effects for adults that has yet to be reported to this day,” said a member of the regime’s Health Commission in the Majlis (parliament) on Thursday. “Instructions were issued for evaluations before using this vaccine for other age groups. However, instead of conducting evaluations they are importing massive amounts of the vaccine. If there is a side-effect reported about a foreign-made vaccine in a foreign country, our own state media resort to brouhaha about it, claiming western vaccines have such side-effects. We have seen so many side-effects and unsafe characteristics about some of the vaccines, but credible information is not being provided indicating what side-effects each of these vaccines have for which groups of people, and what management measures are needed to prevent any harm to the people. There will be many questions raised if they seek to use these vaccines for the under 18 age group without providing this information. Which country in the world has decided to carry out its vaccination process in such fashion that our officials have made such arrangements?” he continued, according to the state-run Ensaf news website.

“The existing vaccines, being Sinopharm and Barekat, remain in the testing and clinical studies phases. On Barekat, we have only received emergency use approval from the country’s health apparatus. The fact that people have doubts about the existing vaccines and that herd immunity has failed in the face of this virus lies on the shoulders of those who delayed the country’s vaccination through eight-months of self-inflicted sanctions and hollow promises of producing indigenous vaccines,” reads a Thursday piece published by the state-run Jahan-e San’at daily.

“The increasing number of new cases and deaths in some provinces is reason for concerns among health experts. If this trend is neglected a sixth wave is quite possible. We should not forget that this virus remains active and can create trouble anywhere in our country,” according to a Thursday report wired by the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“1851 dire patients are hospitalized, and 315 others are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours 15 patients have lost their lives,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the Tasnim news agency.

“We currently have 2016 coronavirus patients hospitalized across [Isfahan] province, of which 344 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours 32 patients lost their lives,” according to a statement released on Thursday by the Isfahan Medical Sciences University.

“During the past 24 hours 352 new coronavirus patients have been hospitalized, and the total count stands at 2157 [in Fars province], of which 209 are in ICUs,” according to a statement released on Thursday by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University.

“The number of coronavirus patients remains in the three digits. This daily figure indicates that the threat is felt. During the past 24 hours 201 new cases have been added to the number of coronavirus patients. If vaccination fails to reach 70 percent in Sistan & Baluchistan province by October 23, we have to expect a sixth wave,” according to a Thursday report wired by the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“The number of coronavirus patients hospitalized in Yazd has once again reached the 400 mark, of which 86 are in ICUs,” said the deputy dean of Yazd Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“Currently we have 435 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 99 are struggling for their lives while in ICUs,” according to a Thursday report wired by the semi-official ISNA news agency from Mazandaran province.
