Iran, August 17, 2021—Over 368,400 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Tuesday afternoon local time, August 17. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 99,108, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 86,694 in Tehran, 24,630 in Isfahan, 23,985 in Razavi Khorasan, 22,976 in Khuzestan, 14,310 in Mazandran, 13,763 in East Azerbaijan, 13,345 in Lorestan, 13,103 in West Azerbaijan, 12,902 in Fars, 12,235 in Gilan, 10,915 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 10,590 in Qom, 9358 in Kerman, 8790 in Golestan, 7428 in Hamedan, 7248 in Markazi (Central), 6428 in Yazd, 6360 in Hormozgan, 5937 in Kurdistan, 4490 in Ardabil, 4244 in Bushehr, 4104 in Qazvin, 3820 in Zanjan, 3381 in South Khorasan, 2774 in Kohgiluyeh & Boyer Ahmad. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Monday as 625 deaths and 50,228 new cases (new pandemic record). Furthermore, 7424 patients are in ICUs (new pandemic record) and 5163 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“Considering the current situation that hospitals are using corridors and praying rooms to hospitalize their patients, five Red Crescent field hospitals have been established to provide medical care in the provinces of Razavi Khorasan (two hospitals in the cities of Mashhad and Sabzevar), Hamedan, Isfahan, and North Khorasan,” said Hassan Qosian Moghaddam, head of the regime’s Red Crescent on Tuesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“We continue to witness an increase in stats. On the other hand, we have yet to reach the peak of this epidemic. The number of people hospitalized, those seeking initial medical care for coronavirus symptoms, and those contracting the virus have increased by 9.7 percent in comparison to last week,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Monday. “9860 people are hospitalized for coronavirus in Tehran province, of which 2700 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours 2600 patients have been hospitalized and 1700 released,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The number of people hospitalized in Razavi Khorasan has increased to 900 per day and currently we have 3770 people hospitalized, of which 600 are in ICUs. 95 percent of the ICU beds across the province are providing care for patients,” according to a Tuesday statement released by the Mashhad Medical Sciences University.

“The number of patients is so high that no emergency section is able to cope with the status quo. There is a shortage in oxygen tanks, beds, and stretchers. There is no certain medical care other than vaccination. We are passed the pandemic phase and have entered the tsunami phase. The trend of this illness is so fast that patients who are visited today with ten percent of their lungs having signs of Covid-19 become seriously ill in 48 hours, may see 80 percent of their lungs engulfed with the virus, and eventually die,” said an official of Mashhad Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“We are just two days away from a catastrophe. Officials should prepare more beds in sports complexes, large centers, field hospitals and… We need to prepare ourselves for the next 15 days because we may need another 5000 beds. I am truly terrified of not being able to respond to the massive wave of patients in the coming days,” said another Mashhad Medical Sciences University official on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Currently we have 5091 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 536 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours 51 patients lost their lives,” according to a statement released by the Isfahan and Kashan Medical Sciences universities on Tuesday.

“Six branches with 125 beds were allocated to coronavirus patients. Considering the fact that all coronavirus beds are filled with patients, patients of the orthopedic branch were transferred to another branch, and this branch has been completely allocated to coronavirus patients. It has been more than ten days that all coronavirus ICU beds in this hospital have been packed with patients,” said the head of Khomeini Hospital in Ahvaz on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Nearly all hospitals in Gilan province are providing services to coronavirus patients. The capacity to produce oxygen tanks in Gilan province is limited and despite the fact that two liquid oxygen factories are active in this province, we are bringing more from Tehran and Isfahan for coronavirus patients,” according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Gilan Medical Sciences University.

“There are no empty beds. Many of the groups taking part in religious ceremonies are not abiding by coronavirus health protocols at all. As a result, in the coming days, we could be facing a serious crisis,” said the spokesperson of Markazi Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“The situation in Sanadaj is extremely critical and concerning. The ICUs are filled, and ordinary branches are reaching their capacity limits. If this trend continues, we will be facing a crisis,” said the head of Sanandaj Health Center on Tuesday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

There are currently 1982 coronavirus patients hospitalized in Golestan province. During the past 24 hours 26 people lost their lives,” according to a Tuesday report wired by the Mehr news agency.
