“Last week the number of patients seeking initial medical care for Covid-19 symptoms increased by 19 percent and the red zone status continues to expand,” said the regime’s Health Ministry spokesperson on Tuesday. “The provinces of Sistan & Baluchistan, Hormozgan, Kerman and Bushehr, are facing a serious increase in the number patients hospitalized for coronavirus. The trend of decreasing number of such patients in some provinces and the increasing trend in a number of other provinces is a major alarm bell for managing this epidemic in our country,” she added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The 113.6 percent increase in new cases indicates that a new crisis is probably in the making and we need to be ready for meaningful changes in the coronavirus epidemic across the country,” according to a Tuesday piece published by the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s (IRGC) Quds Force.

“Currently the number of cases affiliated to the Indian variant, the Indian-New York hybrid, and the South African variant have been identified in our southern and southeastern provinces, along with Kerman, Yazd and West Azerbaijan,” said Health Minister Saied Namaki on June 22. “Right now, we have dire problems in the provinces of Hormozgan and Sistan & Baluchistan. In Golestan province people need to be more careful because there is a significant amount of commuting between Golestan and Sistan & Baluchistan province,” he added, according to the Tasnim news agency.

“Between five to eight percent of the population are becoming poor due to medical bills. If we calculate this into the country’s entire population, nearly 470,000 and 800,000 fall into poverty due to medical expenses,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Tuesday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“13 cities, including Tehran, are considered orange zones. These circumstances will continue into the coming weeks. Currently we are witnessing a slowing of the decreasing trend of coronavirus, and this is concerning,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, the number of people being hospitalized each day is higher than those being released. For every 200 new patients hospitalized, only 170 are being released. The number of people hospitalized in our branches, and especially ICUs, has increased by 27 percent,” said the dean of Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Around ten people are dying of coronavirus each day in East Azerbaijan province. Currently we have around 680 such patients hospitalized across the province,” said the deputy dean of Tabriz Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“Signs indicate that we are on the verge of a serious problem regarding coronavirus. Necessary measures must be taken to prepare for a fifth Covid-19 peak and to be ready to tackle this wave. Since last week, the number of people seeking initial medical care for coronavirus has increased,” said the dean of Arak Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“The trend of people contracting coronavirus is increasing and concerning. The number of daily deaths due to Covid-19 has increased significantly in the past few days. The high number of Covid-19 deaths is an alarm bell,” said the dean of Bushehr Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“The increasing number of new cases and people being hospitalized for coronavirus is an alarm bell regarding a return to critical conditions. Hospitals must be ready for a new rise in the number of coronavirus cases,” said the dean of Fars Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The total number of Covid-19 deaths has increased recently. During the past few days, these stats have increased to more than ten per day. We are facing serious shortages in human resources and equipment, and more attention is needed on this matter. Furthermore, we have the lowest number of hospital beds in comparison to all other provinces across the country,” said the governor of Sistan & Baluchistan province on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
