“One week prior to Nowruz (the Iranian calendar new year) we have been witnessing an increasing Covid-19 trend. In some cities, including Tehran, we are seeing a rising number of people being hospitalized,” said the regime Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Tuesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“The number of people being hospitalized in the cities of Firuzkuh, Damavand and Peeshva have escalated, and with a similar rise in Tehran the capital could be designated as an orange zone,” said Alireza Raisi, spokesperson of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Tuesday. “The number of people being hospitalized in West Azerbaijan province and the city of Urmia are rising, and they could be designated as red zone areas. In the cities of Bushehr, Deylam, Kangan and Ganaveh the circumstances are gradually becoming an orange zone and they may even be designated as red zones. Conditions in the city of Izeh and Behbahan are extremely critical, and the numbers are rising. The city of Khansar may be designated as a red zone and Kashan as an orange zone. Furthermore, the cities of Abdanan, Kerdan and Dehloran in Ilam province are all reporting rising numbers, and the city of Dehloran could be registered as a red zone,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“At least in Tehran we have entered the fourth peak and from March 21 there has been a new flood of patients rushing towards medical centers,” said a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Tuesday. “During these times last year when we had a peak, we saw a decreasing number of people seeking medical care. The Task Force should not have permitted the people to go on vacations. In two weeks’ time our hospitals will be at full capacity and from early April the daily death toll will increase. This is a trend that cannot be stopped… all our hospital beds will be filled with patients. All our colleagues are present in the hospitals and branches are filled. During the Nowruz, a maximum of 80 people sought medical care for Covid-19 symptoms. Currently it has reached 150. This crisis will continue until we speed up the vaccination process,” this official added, according to the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“Currently 39 provincial hospitals in Khuzestan are providing medical care to coronavirus patients and we have 1624 such patients hospitalized, of which around 400 are in ICUs and 66 are under ventilators,” said the dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“In the past 24 hours we have identified 29 new patients who have contracted the UK strain, pushing the total to 299,” said the spokesperson of Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Tuesday. “The cities of Bandar Abbas, Bandar Langeh, Bandar Khomeir, Qeshm, Parsian and Kish Island have the highest number of UK strain cases,” this official added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“There are positive UK strain cases in most cities of [Zanjan] province and we must assume those who contract the virus are cases of this strain,” said the dean of Zanjan Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“If hospitals under the umbrella of Iranshahr Medical Sciences University find more cases of the UK strain it will be out of our control because we have few centers in this area,” said the deputy governor of Sistan & Baluchistan province on Tuesday, according to the IRGC Quds Force-affiliated Tasnim news agency.
