“We remain in a fragile situation. The illness may increase yet again, especially in the northern provinces where the cold season is beginning to kick in,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Thursday, according to state TV.

“Iran has one percent of the world’s population and yet we have a 3.3 percent Covid-19 death rate,” said an expert at the Iran Medical Sciences University on Friday. “The winter cold and the longest night of the year is before us and this is concerning. The Covid-19 transmission rate is increasing. This chain reaction is escalating, and we must break it. Covid-19 is not an unresolvable issue. If we accept the restrictions for a period the pandemic will decrease,” the expert added, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“309 patients are held in ICUs and we have lost 33 patients in the past 24 hours,” said the spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University, according to the Mehr news agency.

“303 patients are in dire conditions and placed in ICUs. Twenty-seven have lost their lives in the past 24 hours. The total tally has reached 2793 since the beginning of the pandemic,” said the public relations office director of Shiraz Medical Sciences University in Fars province.

“We are witnessing an increase in the number of people being hospitalized for Covid-19. This has led to a doubling of the number of people being hospitalized or in general the number of patients during the past two months,” said the deputy dean of Gilan Medical Sciences University on Thursday. “Right now, there are 595 patients hospitalized across Gilan province and some are literally fighting for their lives,” the deputy dean added, according to state TV.

“The number of dire patients has doubled. Currently there are 345 Covid-19 patients hospitalized, of which 118 are in ICUs,” said the spokesperson of the Yazd Medical Sciences University on Friday. “There is a possibility of extending Covid-19 restrictions for another week and this will soon be announced by the Covid-19 Task Force,” the official added, according to the Mehr news agency.

“Following the reopening of stores, we are once again witnessing streets becoming very crowded and many people entering these stores and administrative offices,” said the dean of Qazvin Medical Sciences University on Thursday. “There are many gatherings taking place and the province’s status quo is fragile and concerning and can result in an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases,” the official added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“In Bushehr, the conditions of providing medical care are extremely poor. The process of following up on this issue of increasing the quality of medical services in Bushehr province must be corrected,” said the MP representing Bushehr in the regime’s Majlis (parliament) on Thursday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.
