“Considering the fact that omicron spreads very fast and the number of cases will be very high, even if the percentage being hospitalized is less than the delta variant since the number of cases will be high, the reasons for people being hospitalized can be much higher and the death toll can also rise,” said the secretary of the National Covid-19 Task Force Scientific Committee on Wednesday, according to the state-run Mardom Salari daily.
“Apparently omicron is spreading fast, creating a new crisis, and the start of the sixth peak. Experts say a 175 percent increase in the number of daily cases in just the past three days emphasizes on this reality that we should not make any mistakes in the current circumstances because a sudden increase in the number of cases will most certainly cause problems,” according to a piece published on Wednesday by the state-run Entekhab daily.
