Iran coronavirus update: Over 488,500 deaths, warnings increase over Omicron

Over 488,500 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Tuesday afternoon local time, December 14. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 130,831, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 114,385 in Tehran, 39,575 in Razavi Khorasan, 33,590 in Isfahan, 18,393 in West Azerbaijan, 18,285 in Fars, 17,795 in Mazandaran, 16,220 in Lorestan, 9114 in Kermanshah, 8042 in Kurdistan, 6460 in Semnan, 5664 in Qazvin, 4673 in Ilam, and 3765 in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Tuesday as 67 deaths and 2784 new cases. Furthermore, 3042 patients are in ICUs and 433 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“Omicron has the ability to spread extremely fast. It is certain that the Omicron variant will enter the country. I doubt this variant will not enter any specific country,” said Ebrahim Ghaderi, head of the Health Ministry’s Department of Infectious Diseases, on Tuesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“From late September to December 11 we had 59 children under the age of 12 contract Covid-19 and be hospitalized in hospitals under the umbrella of Kashan Medical Sciences University,” said the deputy dean of Kashan Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Currently we are witnessing a slow rise in [Ardabil] province and we need to be prepared to confront the sixth wave of this hideous illness,” said the dean of Ardabil Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“During the past 24 hours 109 individuals contracted coronavirus. There are currently 513 people hospitalized, of which 140 are in ICUs and 35 are under ventilators,” according to a statement released on Tuesday by the West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University.

“With 105 new patients hospitalized in the past 24 hours, we currently have 750 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 106 are in ICUs,” according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University regarding Fars province.
