On July 13, 2019, dignitaries from dozens of countries across the world attended the main event of the Free Iran 2019 international conference. The conference was part of the five-day Free Iran 2019 series of conferences at the main headquarters of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Ashraf 3, Albania. Several dignitaries, political and human rights activists delivered speeches, issuing remarks about the struggles of the Iranian people and their resistance movement for freedom in their country.
The following are key remarks by Lord McInnes at the Ashraf 3 conference.
Lord McInnes:
Distinguished guests, dear friends from Ashraf, and of course, Madame [Maryam] Rajavi, I’m honored to be here today because this is an important conference on Iran and the future of stability in the region and across the world. It is the first time that I’ve visited Albania. I have already visited Madame [Maryam] Rajavi’s grand gatherings in Paris. But what is clear today and from then is the genuine enthusiasm and hunger of everyone here to ensure a democratic and pluralistic Iran once more. The great privilege of yesterday was being able to hear firsthand the testimony of those who have suffered at the hands of the brutal Iranian regime. And now, as we see with hundreds of demonstrations, we can see the Iranian people are ready for real change. And the crucial reason for that hunger for real change is the illegitimate actions of the Iranian state in sponsoring world terrorism and of the actions of the IRGC. It is incumbent, ladies and gentlemen, upon all of us from the UK and the EU to work as hard as we can to ensure that evil organization is proscribed in the West and no longer do the Iranian people suffer because of its illegitimate international aims. We will do all we can to support you. Thank you.
