Iraq, January 27, 2020—Widespread uprisings have spread across Iraq yet again as Iraqis continue to protest government corruption and the Iranian regime’s meddling in their country. People in Baghdad, Nasiriyah, Basrah, Najaf, Babylon, Samawah, Diwaniyah, Karbala, Kut, Diyala, al-Amarah and Qana have seen flooding into the streets and clashing with Tehran-backed militias.
Sky News Arabia reported millions of college students were demonstrating on Sunday, January 26, in various provinces of Iraq. The Iraqi people’s anger is far more powerful than any security measure taken by the government. The demonstrators in Baghdad’s iconic Tahrir Square were chanting against the mullahs’ regime and their affiliates following their failed Friday rally.

On Sunday, oppressive government forces attacked college students and other protesters in Karbala, southern Iraq, leaving at least 20 people injured with wounds caused by hunting rifle shots.
The Sky News reporter from Baghdad reported:
“Following the departure of Muqtada Sadr’s supporters from the protest squares, we are witnessing a massive march from colleges and schools towards Tahrir Square. College students in the provinces of Dhi Qar, Diwaniya, Basrah and other provinces are also demonstrating in support of the protesters. They are sending this message that their measures will increase in the coming days.
In the city of Nasiriyah, southern Iraq, oppressive government forces and militias associated with the Iranian regime began shooting live ammunition and tear gas towards the demonstrating college students. Clashes erupted as the students put up stiff resistance. Dozens of demonstrators were injured and wounded with bullet wounds.

Thousands of people from across Dhi Qar province rushed to Nasiriyah in support of the protesters’ call for support against the oppressive government forces.
In Karbala, oppressive government forces were seen opening fire on demonstrating college students. The demonstrators had closed a number of the main and commercial roads in this province, expressing their solidarity with the general strike.
In Babylon, oppressive security forces attacked the protesters on the international highway.
In the streets of Samawah, capital of al-Mothana province, a large demonstration was held against corrupt government officials and those linked to the Iranian regime.
In Qadessiyah, demonstrators closed down administrative offices in solidarity with the general strike.
On Sunday night clashes were also reported between protesters and security forces in Baghdad’s Wathba Square. Other reports showed Tehran-backed militias joined forces with oppressive Iraqi forces in attacking protesters at Baghdad’s Khilani and Wathba squares.
