Iran: Third day of truckers’ new nationwide strike

Iran, Dec. 24, 2018 - Truck drivers throughout Iran have launched a new, fifth round of nationwide strikes across the country and Monday marks the third day of this latest movement. The drivers are protesting low wages as prices are skyrocketing throughout the country.




One driver in Lorestan Province, western Iran, reported the beltway around the city of Dorud was completely empty of any trucks.

A video from loading station in Tehran, the capital of Iran, also shows a large number of trucks parked, indicating their drivers are all on strike.

Truck drivers in Sanandaj, western Iran, also sent a message saying they have joined this nationwide movement. They also sent a video of the city’s loading station where the trucks are all parked and the drivers are refusing to transfer any loads.



Another video also shows no trucks on a highway linking Tehran to Bandar Abbas.

Iranian opposition President Maryam Rajavi sent a message through her Twitter account praising the truck drivers’ brave protest movement.
