Regime President Hassan Rouhani again continued his daily lies on Thursday. “During the first wave we surpassed the dilemma better than other countries! In the second wave it appears we are taking the final steps in this period and, God willing, we are hoping our provinces are in good health. Many of our provinces engulfed in the second wave, the Azerbaijans, Ardabil, Kurdistan, Khuzestan and other provinces were, thank God, able to surpass the second wave. We are hoping that with people being careful, we will hopefully not witness a third Covid-19 wave,” he said.

The spokesperson of the regime’s Health Ministry has designated all four provinces mentioned by Rouhani as “red” or “alarming” zones.

A state-run website posted a very telling report on Thursday about the conditions of Iran’s nurses and hospitals. “Comparing the nurse to hospital bed ratio in various countries across the globe and region will depict a near catastrophe. This ratio in Iran is even worse than the war-riddled country of Syria. Considering a third peak expected in the fall season, this forecasts a major catastrophe,” according to the Khabar Fouri website.

On reopening the country’s schools, Rouhani and his Minister of Education said on Wednesday that all regions across the country, be red, yellow or white, will have students in classrooms on Saturday, September 5. On Thursday, Mehdi Ismaeeli, a member of the Majlis (parliament) Education, Research and Technology Committee had interesting remarks in this regard. “The contradictory remarks heard from government officials are causing stress among the population. Until yesterday they said classes in red areas will reopen with remote classes, and in yellow areas it will be in semi-remote fashion. Now all of a sudden they are saying all areas will have students attending school in their classrooms,” he said, according to the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“Considering the season in which schools reopen, I am announcing my utter opposition to sending students back to school on September 5,” said the caretaker of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet affiliated to the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

The deputy provincial governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahamad said, “Under the current circumstances, the reopening of schools is not good. Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad has the most critical conditions among the provinces of the country. If we remain negligent, we might suffer heavy casualties. We are entering the third peak of coronavirus. Four counties are red zones, one county is orange and three more are yellow. Coronavirus cases have increased by a factor of 1.5 in Boyer Ahmad and tripled in Kohgiluyeh since last week.” (Source: Fars News Agency, September 3)

The dean of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad Medical Sciences University said, “ICUs are filling up and there’s no room to hospitalize more patients.” The dean added, “The continuation of the increase in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations in the province will cause an increase in deaths in the upcoming weeks.” (Source: Mehr News Agency, September 2)

The secretary of the coronavirus academic staff in Southern Khorasan confirmed a 5.4 percent increase in the Covid-19 deaths in the province, according to Mehr News Agency. “We currently have 143 patients with severe respiratory symptoms hospitalized in the province’s hospitals,” the official said.
