“With the spread of coronavirus and nurses becoming highly discouraged of the status quo, between 100 to 150 nurses are migrating abroad each month, indicating a rise… If people’s well-being were important for our officials, they would have provided more support for the nurses so they wouldn’t be leaving the country. Of course, and unfortunately, a human life lacks any value in our country,” said the director of Iran’s House of Nurses on Sunday, according to the state-run Jahan-e San’at daily.

“The story of coronavirus in Iran goes far beyond the death toll and the high number of cases. The new dimensions of medical rent, the medicine mafia, the lack of any strategy to provide medical care, mismanagement, weak diplomacy, along with other matters have all become quite vivid. The medicine mafia profits 30 trillion rials through the sale of IV fluids and coronavirus medicine. Delays in procuring the vaccines is not unrelated to the medicine mafia’s activities. By infiltrating into the country’s decision-making bodies, they have delayed vaccine purchases or refused to order more vaccines merely to make more profits,” according to a Sunday piece published in the state-run Hamdeli daily.

“Considering the lack of any control and adequate monitoring, along with the high rate that coronavirus is circulating across the country, the entry of new variants, it should surprise no one if we witness lambda and mu cases in Iran,” said the head of Beheshti University’s Virology Research Center on Sunday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“During the past few weeks, the number of coronavirus deaths in the city of Tabriz has quadrupled, increasing from seven per day two weeks ago to 30 per day now. Taking into account other causes of death and those by Covid-19, the number of burials has reached 65 per day and providing services to the cities near Tabriz has become problematic, mainly due to the high number of deaths,” said the director of Tabriz Municipality’s Cemetery Branch on Sunday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“Considering the significant increase in the number of coronavirus cases, there are days where medical centers face a shortage of supplies. Accordingly, and based on authority provided by the Covid-19 Task Force, instructions have been issued for various sports stadiums and gymnasiums to be used in critical circumstances,” according to a Sunday statement released by the Hamedan Medical Sciences University.

“Currently we have 3481 coronavirus patients hospitalized across Isfahan province, of which 499 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours we have lost 50 patients to Covid-19,” said the spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University on Sunday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“3711 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, of which 382 are in ICUs. 33 people have lost their lives in the past 24 hours,” said the deputy dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Sunday. “There are a number of black fungus cases seen in Fars province,” this official added, according to the Mehr news agency.

“During the past 24 hours we have hospitalized 333 patients. We currently have 1567 patients hospitalized, of which 231 are in ICUs,” according to a Sunday statement released by the Kermanshah Medical Sciences University.
