In his last meeting as head of the National Covid-19 Task Force, regime President Hassan Rouhani continued his long line of lies. “Our decisions have always been for the better good of the people, meaning we discussed issues, evaluated them and made decisions. We don’t see any decisions made in contrast to scientific principles or trends that exist today in the outside world,” he claimed on Saturday. “The vaccine is one of our greatest sources of pride. We are one step ahead of the forecast we had for the vaccine,” Rouhani added.

These lies are expressed while just days ago Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi made remarks in complete contrast. “I apologize to our people for not being able to live up to the pledges made regarding vaccination and to carry out broader measures,” he said on July 21, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“29 of the country’s 31 provinces are engaged with the delta variant. On the other hand, the entrance/release ration in our hospitals are escalating significantly,” said Alireza Raisi, spokesperson of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday. “Many hospitals beds are being filled with patients… If we continue to abide by the health protocols as we are today, next week we will be witnessing a far stronger wave because this escalating trend has yet to reach its climax,” he added, according to state TV.

“Last week we witnessed an 81 percent rise in the death toll in comparison to the week prior to that. We also saw a 24 percent rise in the number of people hospitalized and 19 percent rise in those placed in ICUs,” said the spokesperson of the Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“Currently we have 1639 patients hospitalized in our province,” said the head of Kerman Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency. Kerman is one of the most critical provinces, this official added.

“The rising number of new cases and death toll in Fars province is concerning. During the past 24 hours we have lost 28 people to coronavirus, which is deeply troublesome,” said the dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“During the past 24 hours 392 new coronavirus patients have been hospitalized while 252 were released. Currently we have 2518 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 367 are in ICUs,” said the spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“There has been a 50 percent increase in the number of people hospitalized in comparison to two weeks ago. The number of new patients is rising so significantly that the current figures of the beginning of this new peak are higher than the climax of the first peak,” said the dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University on Saturday. “The status quo is extremely concerning. We need urgent decisions and severe restrictions to be imposed in order to prevent the current situation seen in some provinces from repeating in Khuzestan province,” this official added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The number of coronavirus patients seeking initial medical care and those being hospitalized in [Hamedan] province has tripled, and the death toll has doubled in comparison to one month ago,” said the spokesperson of Hamedan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The status quo is even worse than February of last year and the pandemic is far beyond our expectations. We have 1473 coronavirus patients hospitalized and 1670 patients who have received initial medical care,” said the deputy dean of Golestan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“We are witnessing atrocities in the hospital that we’ve never seen in any horror movie. Some of our colleagues believe we still do not know what will happen to us,” said an ICU nurse in the city of Gorgan on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
