Iran, February 5, 2021—Over 211,500 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 480 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Friday afternoon local time, February 5. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 58,336 around a third of the actual figure.
The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 50,956 in Tehran, 14,225 in Razavi Khorasan, 13,485 in Isfahan, 10,520 in Khuzestan, 8757 in Mazandaran, 8588 in Lorestan, 8048 in East Azerbaijan, 6387 in Fars, 5388 in Alborz, 4993 in Hamedan, 4699 in Kerman, 4344 in Kermanshah, 4278 in Markazi (Central), 3652 in Kurdistan, and 3155 in Semnan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

“Orange zone cities are dangerous areas of the country and during the past ten days their numbers have increased from 18 to 36, and the number of yellow zone cities have increased from 130 to 178. This sounds a major alarm bell for us,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Thursday. “During the past few days, the decreasing trend of Covid-19 cases across the country has come to a halt and we are witnessing a rise. In Tehran, the number of people seeking medical care and being hospitalized for coronavirus is rising and currently the virus is spreading more among younger people. The virus in Kish, Qeshm and Hormoz (in southern Iran) is on the rise and these three islands are considered orange zones. Based on the decision made by the National Covid-19 Task Force the commuting of non-local vehicles to the three provinces of Mazandaran, Gilan and Golestan (in northern Iran) is banned on this coming Tuesday and travelling to the yellow cities of Qeshm, Kish, Bandar Abbas, Isfahan, Shiraz and Mashhad is forbidden,” he added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
“The Covid-19 trend has been increasing in some cities. At least in the three provinces of Tehran, Yazd and Hormozgan this increase has been significant, and the rising number of orange cities is concerning,” said the head of the Health Ministry’s Care Center.
“The number of people seeking medical care last week increased beyond the 2,000 mark per day and the number of people hospitalized per day reached 300. These are both alarm bells for us,” said the deputy chair of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Friday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
“What we were concerned about has happened. The number of new cases and people being hospitalized for Covid-19 has increased by 68 percent,” said the chair of the Health Center in Khuzestan province of southwest Iran on Thursday, according to state TV.
“The number of new cases is escalating. In the past 24 hours 552 patients in hospitals covered by the Jondi Poor Medical Sciences University in Ahvaz and 359 patients in hospitals covered by the Abadan Medical Sciences University have sought medical care for coronavirus symptoms. These are the highest such stats in the past two months. The number of people seeking medical care yesterday was 12 percent higher than the day before and 30 percent higher than last week,” said the dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the Tabnak website, an outlet affiliated to Mohsen Rezaie, former head of the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“The number of people seeking medical care in hospitals with coronavirus symptoms have increased, raising this concern that Covid-19 is spreading at a faster rate,” said the head of Gholipour Hospital in the city of Bukan in northwest Iran on Friday. “Currently, three special and general branches of this hospital have been allocated to Covid-19 patients. If the number of such patients increase, we will be forced to reopen other branches,” this official added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
“During the past ten days the number of people with coronavirus-like symptoms seeking medical care have increased from 1100 to 2200. This is a significant warning for all of us. According to the dean of Mashhad Medical Sciences University we are currently witnessing a rising number of new Covid-19 cases in the city of Mashhad and across Razavi Khorasan province, and this is extremely concerning,” according to a Thursday report aired on state TV.
“The number of new cases per day remains a three-digit figure and the number of people hospitalized stands at four digits. According to the Mazandaran Medical Sciences University, this province remains a dangerous Covid-19 zone,” according to a Thursday report wired by the IRGC-affiliated Fars news agency.
