“The winter peak is a different issue and we are concerned about it due to the fact that, especially in southern provinces, consisting of around 20 or so million people, and in the northern provinces of Mazandaran and Gilan we are seeing signs of a new wave beginning,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Saturday. “Areas such as Tehran, the Azarbaijan provinces in northwest and Khorasan provinces in the northeast, where the cold season has already begun, there are a number of people contracting the virus and their conditions may worsen,” he added, according to state TV.

“Tehran remains in disturbing circumstances. Despite the fact that it appears we are in better conditions in comparison to recent weeks, today we had 500 new patients hospitalized, of which 135 were directly sent to the ICUs,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday. “Over 4500 patients have been hospitalized across the province during the past 24 hours. Circumstances remain fragile and extremely concerning, showing we should not consider the status quo as improved or unfaltering. While the illness is deteriorating, we may witness a more severe return and even stronger waves,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Our circumstances are fragile, and we are truly on a very thin line between being considered a red or red-orange or orange zone,” said Tehran City Council chief Mohsen Hashemi on Saturday. “I checked the numbers today and around 100 deaths were reported in the Beheshte Zahra Cemetery. All were Covid-19 patients,” he added, according to state TV.

“In the past 24 hours we have lost 36 coronavirus patients and the total death toll in this province stands at 2685. There are 1567 Covid-19 patients hospitalized as we speak, of which 303 are in ICUs,” said the deputy dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University in Fars province on Sunday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“A total of 1090 coronavirus patients are hospitalized in our province, of which 272 are in ICUs and 72 are under ventilators. The death toll has reached 3000 in our provinces,” said the dean of West Azarbaijan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

Spokesperson of the Kerman Medical Sciences University on Sunday reported 14 coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours and the death toll in this province reaching 2055, according to the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“In Ardabil, 91 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized in the past 24 hours, breaking our daily record,” said the dean of Ardabil Medical Sciences University on Sunday. “Currently there are a total of 481 patients hospitalized, of which 83 are in ICUs. If this trend continues, we will be witnessing an increase in the number of deaths in the coming weeks,” according to the Mehr news agency.

In Mazandaran province, “based on official stats from Mazadanran and Babol Medical Sciences University, there are 944 patients hospitalized for Covid-19. This is 11 percent more than the time when the recent comprehensive restrictions were imposed,” according to a Saturday report wired by the regime's official IRNA news agency.
