“We must take this into consideration that the number of deaths being announced right now is due to our measures during the past month. We should be concerned of an increase in the number of Covid-19 deaths,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi said on Thursday, according to Mizan news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s judiciary.

“During the past 50 years the Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery [in Tehran] has not witnessed such circumstances,” said the director of the facility. “The numbers were unbelievable, going from 1, 2, 3, … to 20, 40, 80 at first, until we reached 119 on March 23. The numbers were unbelievable in Tehran. Each year the death rate was one or two percent in Tehran. This crisis started more than eight months ago and there is no end in sight. All the crises in Behest-e Zahra’s 50-year history have ended in six days. Even the 2003 Bam earthquake we saw the resulting crisis finalize in eight days. However, the Covid-19 crisis has continued for more than 250 days and there is no perspective of its future proportions. In the past two or three weeks we have witnessed daily deaths in Tehran soar above 350. Our staff is tired, and they are mentally traumatized. Each day there are more deaths. We are hoping the day does not come when we have to say the situation is out of our control,” the official added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Tehran is in dangerous circumstances. If people do not abide by health protocols, we will most definitely see all our hospital beds full of patients,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force.

“Covid-19 patients are entering our hospital at a very high rate and most of them are in far more dire conditions in comparison to the past,” said the head of Tehran’s Tajrish Hospital on Friday. “The number of patients being released have decreased significantly and we will most likely be witnessing an increasing trend in the coming months,” he added, according to state TV.

The Medical Sciences University of Isfahan and Kashan have in the past 24 hours reported 1,500 new Covid-19 cases and 59 deaths,” according to a Thursday report on state TV.

“During the past few weeks nearly all of health apparatus’ effort and more than 80 percent of the capacity of the hospital in this city have been allocated to Covid-19 patients. During the past month, the increasing trend of new cases has been unprecedentedly high,” said the head of the Piranshahr Medical Network (northwest Iran) on Thursday, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.

“With the increasing number of coronavirus deaths in Fars province reaching 41 in one day, we are now at the climax of this epidemic in [Fars] province,” said the public relations office director of Fars Medical Science University on Thursday. During the past 24 hours Fars province has had the highest daily death toll in the past eight months, the official said, adding 1621 people are hospitalized, of which 226 are in ICUs, according to ISNA.

Spokesperson of the Yazd Medical Sciences University reported 24 Covid-19 deaths in the past 24 hours across this province on Thursday, adding 453 new confirmed cases were identified, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
