One of the most meaningful and instructive aspects of the fall and death of Iranian regime president Ebrahim Raisi was the explosion of joy and celebration among people across the country following the news.
People, especially freedom fighters and freedom lovers, rejoiced as soon as they heard the news. Bereaved mothers, families of martyrs, and all those who had lost loved ones distributed sweets and congratulated each other in gratitude for the death of the “Butcher of 1988.”
This widespread and immediate celebration was reminiscent of the joy and public enthusiasm when the bloodthirsty executioner of Evin, Assadollah Lajevardi, was killed.
The nationwide jubilation following the death of Lajevardi was an outburst of a national and widespread anger over the crimes of the Executioner of Evin and the tortures and executions that targeted the PMOI and freedom fighters in the early 1980s.
The widespread joy over Raisi’s death was also a symbol and manifestation of the intense hatred for the executioner of 1988 as a member of the Death Committee for executing Khomeini’s decree to massacre all steadfast PMOI members and supporters in prisons, the same great crime for which the quest for justice for its martyrs continues until the overthrow of the regime of executioners.
Khamenei favored Raisi for his cruelty in this great crime and gave him special orders for the killings from him. Khamenei also appointed Raisi as the president of the regime to ensure the consolidation of the executioners’ rule.
For this very reason, the news of the death of the executioner of 1988 sparked a wave of joy and celebration among the oppressed people and all the friends and bereaved families and relatives of the 30,000 political prisoners massacred by the regime at that time. This was a meaningful moment that showed how people across Iran, who bear the wounds from the regime of executioners and looters, eagerly and moment by moment await the destruction of this regime and the death and demise of its leaders.
The joy over the death of the executioner of the 1988 massacre was not limited to Iran; besides freedom-loving Iranians in various cities around the world, in various cities in Syria and Iraq and even in war-torn Gaza, people who have suffered from the treachery and crimes of the clerical regime distributed sweets in celebration and gratitude for the death of Raisi. These scenes expose the inhuman and deceptive regime that tries to pretend through overwhelming propaganda that it enjoys popular support in Iran and the region.
Now, as these celebrations are being seen, the whole world sees how much the clerical dictatorship is hated and despised by the people. However, some politicians have decided to continue the policy of appeasement toward the regime by extending condolences for the death of one of the most notorious murderers in modern history. In response, lawmakers and politicians in various countries around the world have emphasized this truth and called on governments to put an end to the disgraceful policy of appeasement with this regime, which is deeply hated by the Iranian people.
In protest to the message of condolence by the President of the European Council, Ms. Joanna Cotar, a member of the German Federal Parliament, posted on X: “A terrorist mass murderer has died, the oppressed in his country are celebrating and the EU is shedding tears. It’s all unbelievable. THIS EU must go. We need a completely new way of working together. Shame on you!”
Yes, the nationwide joy of the Iranian people brought shame to those politicians who offered condolences for the death of the executioner of the Iranian people and the people of the region. It is also a reminder that when you build your career on murder, torture, and executions, your death will become cause for worldwide celebration.
