On the morning of March 31, 2026, the Iranian regime executed Babak Alipour, a 34-year-old law graduate and a devoted member of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
His execution, alongside his cellmate Pouya Ghobadi, came just 24 hours after the regime hanged two other PMOI political prisoners, Mohammad Taghavi and Ali Akbar (Shahrokh) Daneshvarkar. In the days that followed, the regime executed four more PMOI members, Vahid Bani Amerian, Abolhassan Montazer, Hamed Validi, and Mohammad (Nima) Massoum Shahi.
Amidst this bloody wave of executions—driven by the clerical regime’s profound fear of an impending uprising under the fog of war—Alipour’s letter from December 2025 serve as a profound testament to the unbreakable will of the Iranian youth and their commitment to a free Iran.
A conscious choice for freedom
In a letter penned in December 2025, after his death sentence was confirmed by the regime’s sham judiciary, Alipour laid out his motivations for joining the PMOI’s Resistance Units. Born in 1991 in Amol, Alipour had been arrested three times since 2018 for his activism. He recognized that the rampant poverty, corruption, murders, and suicides destroying Iranian society all stemmed from a single root: the Velayat-e Faqih (absolute clerical rule) system.

Instead of succumbing to despair, he chose the path of organized resistance. “If the PMOI did not exist and I had not made this choice, given the chaotic and corrupt situation caused by the rule of the mullahs, it is unknown what fate awaited me,” he wrote. He stressed that a democratic republic and a society free of discrimination could only be achieved through the overthrow of the regime, asserting that pointing to any other path is “a deviation and only serves to prolong the life of this system.”
Continuing a 60-year legacy of resistance
Alipour’s letter highlights his deep connection to the PMOI’s 60-year history of struggle against the dictatorships of both the Shah and the mullahs. He drew direct inspiration from the 30,000 political prisoners massacred in 1988 and his martyred cellmates, Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani, who were executed in July 2025. “Like the Mojahedin of Ashraf and imprisoned PMOI members such as Behrouz and Mehdi, I swear that I will never give up on the overthrow of this evil clerical regime and will never abandon this path,” he wrote.
Displaying absolute defiance against the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Babak Alipour emphasized that the regime’s campaign of terror cannot extinguish the flames of resistance. Knowing he was facing the gallows, he wrote: “I have absolute faith that in the current circumstances, our execution will not intimidate the youth; rather, it will strengthen their resolve to overthrow this regime and establish popular sovereignty.” His words prove that a new generation of Iranian youth has consciously decided to sacrifice their lives for the liberation of their country, declaring in the face of death: “So, what fear is there!”

Full text of Babak Alipour’s letter (December 2025)
With greetings and salutations,
The purpose of my words to you, the heroic people, is that the regime has once again confirmed the death sentences of myself and five of my brothers in its sham courts—courts that we absolutely do not recognize and which violate every international principle.
But since we are backed by the Organization, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), its Resistance Units, and the heroic people, we have no fear, for victory is ours in any case.
I am Babak Alipour, born in 1991 in the city of Amol, and I hold a bachelor’s degree in law. Until my arrest on December 27, 2023, I lived with my family in one of the villages of Rasht.
Since my time is limited, I have written down my words to you so that nothing is left out.
From 2018 until now, December 2025, I have been arrested and imprisoned three times for supporting the proud People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran. I have been in Lakan Prison in Rasht, Evin, and Greater Tehran, and I am currently in prison.
From the first day of my acquaintance with the PMOI until now, as I am on death row, I have continuously been thankful for this choice. I am also deeply indebted to Massoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi, from whom I have learned many lessons.
Another lesson I learned from Massoud Rajavi that came to my aid was his statement that Resistance Units must prepare the ground for the overthrow of the regime. This very lesson helped me endure the days in solitary confinement, the interrogations, and my time in prison. It allowed me to strike a blow to the regime from behind the thick walls of the prison and enabled me to connect with the lions of the Resistance Units.
If I were to share an example of a lesson I learned from Maryam Rajavi here, it relates to her speech at the youth congress held in Paris about two months ago. There, she mentioned my name along with several other members of the Resistance Units. At that moment, I felt a sense of embarrassment toward her, but I immediately told myself that this was a mission directive for me—a mission to resist, just like the other martyrs of the proud PMOI who mocked death, kissed the gallows, and took flight from the executioner’s noose.
I am also incredibly grateful to my Mojahed sisters and brothers who showed me the true meaning of life and love for the people. They enabled me to step onto this path and helped me elevate myself along the way. It is a path of salvation, a path of suffering and blood, where every moment is accompanied by choice, tribulation, and testing. I came to the conclusion that it was only the PMOI—and they alone—who started this evolutionary path during the Shah’s dictatorship, brought it to where it is today, and will firmly and steadfastly carry it forward until the “freedom” of the heroic people from the evil of the religion-peddling mullahs is achieved.
If the PMOI did not exist and I had not made this choice, given the chaotic and corrupt situation caused by the rule of the Velayat-e Faqih, it is unknown what fate awaited me. Perhaps, like many Iranian youths who are victims of the mullahs’ impositions, looting, and crimes, instead of choosing to support the PMOI and taking this glorious path, I would have been arrested and imprisoned on charges like murder, theft, fraud, assault, selling drugs or alcohol, or I might have committed suicide.
Before making this choice, I had an ordinary, day-to-day life, even though I was surrounded by poverty, corruption, and unemployment—the very things that exist now and have only increased, such as a father murdering his daughter, a husband killing his wife, or students, employees, and workers committing suicide or self-immolation out of destitution. All of these have a single root: the Velayat-e Faqih regime, which, in the words of the Quran, is the clear manifestation of the destroyer of crops and generations. Everything we desire—unconditional freedom, a society without discrimination, gender equality, and justice—can only be achieved through the “overthrow” of this regime. There is no other way. Pointing to any other path is a deviation and only serves to prolong the life of this system.
This dictatorship, the dictatorship of the mullahs, just like the dictatorship of the Shah, leaves only one path: “armed” and “organized” struggle. Fortunately, we can find everything we seek for this path within the PMOI Resistance Units. I am happy that I stepped onto this path to fulfill my human and Islamic duty. In truth, this is a path whose seeds were sown with the blood of the martyrs of the 1980s: the martyrs of June 20, September 27, and the 30,000 massacred political prisoners—the path of the PMOI prisoners who stood firm on their principles and never compromised on the ideal of freedom for their people.
My martyred cellmates, Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani, were among the heroes of this path. Like the Mojahedin of Ashraf and imprisoned PMOI members such as Behrouz and Mehdi, I swear that I will never give up on the overthrow of this evil clerical regime and will never abandon this path.
Now, Khamenei, drowning in the whirlpool of crises engulfing his entire rule, seeks to demonstrate the peak of his repression by increasing executions, hoping to create fear and terror in an explosive society to save himself from being overthrown. But he is gravely mistaken. With or without executions, this regime will be overthrown—it must be, and this is a historical certainty. And this overthrow will undoubtedly be realized by the brave Resistance Units and the freedom-loving people of Iran.
Without a doubt, the day of freedom and prosperity for the Iranian people from the yoke of the religion-peddling mullahs will soon arrive. It was a great blessing that, through the Organization, I was able to walk this path—the path of overthrow, the path to establishing a democratic republic. I am ready to give my life and everything I have on this path so that the heroic people of Iran can gain everything. I have taken this as a model from my Mojahed sisters and brothers, under the leadership of Massoud and Maryam, who have sworn to give everything they have so that the heroic people can achieve everything.
Finally, I will read these last few lines exactly from my text:
Thank God for guiding me to this path. May I remain worthy until the end, so that my life may be a sacrifice for the liberation of my people. I have absolute faith that in the current circumstances, our execution will not intimidate the youth; rather, it will strengthen their resolve to overthrow this regime and establish popular sovereignty. So, what fear is there!
“Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow, and among them is he who awaits, and they did not alter [their commitment] by any alteration.”
Death to the principle of the Velayat-e Faqih.
Hail to the National Liberation Army of Iran.
Hail to the great leader of the Liberation Army, Massoud Rajavi.
Death to Khamenei, hail to Massoud and Maryam Rajavi, damnation upon Khomeini.
