Iran, Aug. 4, 2019 – Based on a previously made call for protests, dozens of youth and unemployed young men gathered in front of the state oil company in the city of Ahvaz in Khuzestan Province, southwest Iran, protesting the officials' refusal to hire them on a permanent basis.
Company authorities, fearing the protest spreading to other streets and picking up pace, called on the repressive state security forces to put down the protest. A number of protesters were arrested, according to local reports.
