Across Iran, PMOI/MEK Resistance Units are defying the regime’s apparatus of suppression, conveying messages of resistance, and denouncing all forms of dictatorship. On July 5, 2026, these courageous young men and women carried out a widespread campaign of defiance spanning multiple cities across the country, including Tehran, Shiraz, Sanandaj, Bandar Abbas, Sari, Hamedan, Kashan, Azna, Sardasht, and Rudsar.
Risking their lives, members installed posters, held large placards, and painted graffiti in public locations. The messages prominently featured slogans such as “Salute to Rajavi,” alongside the emblem of the National Liberation Army of Iran and posters of Maryam Rajavi declaring, “My commitment is an unbreakable pact for the freedom of all the people of Iran.” As the most important organized force within the nationwide uprisings, the Resistance Units continue to ignite the engines of resistance across the country, proving that the Iranian street is highly organized and prepared for change.

These activities are taking place against the backdrop of an accelerating economic collapse. In Tehran, Resistance Units installed placards in multiple locations bearing a stark message: “In the face of the rising cost of bread, the only solution is rebellion and uprising.”
This message directly addresses Iran’s catastrophic economic situation, which state-controlled newspapers are increasingly unable to conceal. On July 1 alone, regime media reported on a collapsing scientific ranking, women vanishing from the labor market, and inflation pushing the middle class into poverty.
However, the bread crisis has become the center of gravity. Official figures reveal that Iran’s minimum monthly wage for 2026 is approximately 166 million rials, while the regime’s Supreme Labor Council estimates basic living expenses exceed 450 million rials. The legal wage now covers only about 37 percent of a family’s basic needs. Bread, the final nutritional safety net for millions, has seen inflation exceeding 140 percent. The Executive Secretary of the East Tehran Workers’ House has warned that reducing daily bread consumption could undermine social stability itself. For the Resistance Units, this institutionalized theft leaves the Iranian people with only one option: uprising.

A central pillar of the July 5 campaign was the absolute rejection of the remnants of the Shah’s dictatorship, which acts as an obstructive and destructive force to democratic change. Across cities like Shiraz, Karaj, Bushehr, and Zanjan, Resistance Unit members held placards reading: “No to the crown, no to the turban, the mullahs’ time is up,” “Iranians are awake, and they hate the shah and the mullahs,” and “Monarchy, mullahs’ rule, 100 years of crime.”
These slogans dismantle the false alternative promoted by monarchists. A state-run newspaper recently admitted that monarchists are a “blessing” to the Islamic Republic because they sow division within the opposition. This alignment of interests is further highlighted by the Shah’s heir, who openly declares that change in Iran should rely on the regime’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and intelligence apparatus. He has even referred to the notorious SAVAK police as a source of “pride.”

The Resistance Units represent a tested alternative, especially as the ruling theocracy is weaker and more desperate than ever before. Following the loss of Ali Khamenei, his son has proven completely incapable of filling the power vacuum. The regime sees peace as a hangman’s noose, yet finds no salvation in war.
In response to this political dead end, Resistance Unit members in Behshahr held placards declaring: “The only path to freedom is the Mojahedin’s path.” The unyielding nature of this movement was demonstrated vividly in April of this year with the execution of PMOI hero Vahid Bani-Amerian and his unit. All they had to do to save their lives was utter a single word against the PMOI. Instead, they proudly told their executioners: “We do not bargain with you over our ideals, our beliefs, or our lives.”

The July actions of the Resistance Units prove that the Iranian people will leave no room for the Shah and the mullahs. When a government can no longer guarantee its people’s daily bread, relies solely on repression, and strips citizens of their basic rights, it loses its claim to govern. As demonstrated by the brave men and women risking their lives in the streets, the equation for the country’s future has already found its answer. The only solution to Iran’s current crisis is regime change, and that change will be achieved through the organized Resistance of the Iranian people.
