Resistance Units target regime centers to honor June 20 uprising anniversary

In a powerful display of defiance against the regime’s heavy repressive measures, the PMOI Resistance Units have launched a sweeping campaign of 45 coordinated operations across Iran.

These daring acts commemorate the 45th anniversary of the June 20, 1981 uprising, recognized as the Day of Martyrs and Political Prisoners, the founding of the National Liberation Army of Iran, and the beginning of the all-out resistance against the clerical dictatorship.

Striking at the machinery of suppression

The Resistance Units boldly targeted the regime’s machinery of suppression, carrying out attacks against numerous IRGC Basij bases in cities across the country, including Tehran, Ahvaz, Eslamshahr, and Qaemshahr. In Zahedan, the units specifically targeted and set fire to several IRGC Basij bases tasked with spying on and suppressing students.

Incendiary attacks and fires also rocked multiple regime facilities in Mohammadshahr, Karaj, Tehran, Iranshahr ,and Farrokhshahr. In Borujen, activists set fire to a center for spreading fundamentalism and terrorism, striking at the ideological core of the regime’s repressive apparatus.

Furthermore, across major cities like Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, Shiraz, and numerous others, activists systematically set fire to banners of the dead dictator Ali Khamenei, regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini, and the newly installed dictator Mojtaba Khamenei. As they set these symbols of tyranny ablaze, they projected powerful slogans such as “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Supreme Leader,” “Salute to Rajavi,” and “Long live the National Liberation Army of Iran.”

The historical roots of the resistance

These courageous acts of defiance are deeply rooted in the legacy of June 20, 1981, an irreversible turning point in Iran’s contemporary history. On that day, the despotic clerical regime fully unmasked itself by opening fire on a massive, peaceful demonstration in Tehran. Hundreds were killed in the streets, and thousands more were arrested and swiftly sent to the firing squads. This initiated an era of absolute repression that destroyed the democratic achievements gained following the 1979 revolution.

At the time, the Iranian Resistance correctly identified that the new regime was a profound threat to the survival and freedom of the Iranian nation. June 20 drew a thick line between capitulation and resistance, proving that any compromise with the ruling clerics would only empower them to continue their brutal suppression. This realization led to the founding of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the longest-standing and most organized opposition movement and alternative to the mullahs’ regime.

A fragile regime relying on executions

Today, the regime finds itself unprecedentedly weak and vulnerable. Following the massive nationwide uprisings in January 2026 that brought the ruling clerics to the brink of overthrow, the state is deeply terrified of popular outrage. Even with Mojtaba Khamenei installed after his father’s death on February 28, the Velayat-e Faqih system possesses absolutely no capacity for reform. To prevent another revolt, the regime has heavily deployed its repressive forces in the streets and resorted to a horrific surge in executions.

Exploiting recent wartime conditions, the regime has systematically executed political prisoners. Recently, eight members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and over 20 young people involved in the January uprising were executed.

With the regime’s downfall on the horizon, the Iranian people have made it unequivocally clear that they reject any return to past dictatorships. The central slogan echoing through the uprisings remains “No to Shah, No to Mullahs.”

The recent 45 operations by the Resistance Units prove the nation’s resolve to bring down the religious dictatorship. The true path to freedom lies in Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s “Third Option”—a democratic transformation led by the Iranian people and their organized resistance, entirely free from foreign intervention or appeasement.
