On June 19, ahead of a momentous anniversary for the Iranian people, the Resistance Units of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) launched a bold campaign of anti-regime activities in the southeastern city of Zahedan. The activists took to the streets to mark June 20, the Day of Martyrs and Political Prisoners.
Through the public display of banners and placards, these brave units renewed their unwavering commitment to the complete overthrow of the clerical dictatorship and the establishment of a democratic, secular republic.

Demonstrating profound political awareness, the Resistance Units spread messages that directly challenged the regime’s survival strategies. Placards welcomed the recent ceasefire, highlighting that war serves as the regime’s shield against popular uprisings, while peace acts as its ultimate “poison.” The activists underscored that the pursuit of nuclear weapons and regional warmongering are core pillars of the ruling religious fascism.
Furthermore, the units drew a firm and historic line against all forms of dictatorship, echoing the central slogan of the Iranian people: “Neither Shah nor mullahs.” Banners explicitly noted that a dictator is a dictator, whether wearing a crown or a turban.
They pointedly declared that while Ali Khamenei’s son seeks to preserve power and the Shah’s son seeks to acquire it, the eras of both the Shah and the mullahs have definitively come to an end. The overthrow of the regime, the placards affirmed, is the sole responsibility of the Iranian people, their organized resistance, and the National Liberation Army.

The slogans echoed in Zahedan commemorate the 45th anniversary of June 20, 1981, an irreversible turning point in Iran’s contemporary history. On that day, the despotic clerical regime fully unmasked itself by opening fire on a massive, peaceful demonstration in Tehran. This initiated an era of absolute repression and proved that compromise with the ruling clerics was impossible, ultimately leading to the founding of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
Today, the Resistance Units are operating at a time when the regime is unprecedentedly weak. Having barely survived the massive January 2026 nationwide uprisings and the subsequent death of its dictator on February 28, the state is deeply terrified.
Even with Khamenei’s son installed, the Velayat-e Faqih system possesses absolutely no capacity for reform. In a desperate attempt to hide its fear of imminent collapse, the regime has resorted to a horrific surge in executions, recently killing eight PMOI members and over 20 youths involved in the January uprising.

Yet, the Resistance Units remain undeterred, having already proven their concrete operational capacity. During the January uprising, they executed 630 operations to defend unarmed protesters, and on February 23, 2026, 250 PMOI fighters launched a daring assault on Khamenei’s heavily guarded headquarters.
The immense bravery displayed by the Resistance Units in Zahedan will culminate globally at the upcoming June 20, 2026, rally at Place Vauban in Paris. More than 100,000 supporters of the Iranian Resistance will gather in one of the largest Iranian rallies ever held in Europe. This monumental event aims to condemn the escalating wave of political executions and demand a democratic, secular republic.
The Paris rally champions Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s “Third Option”—a democratic transformation led by the Iranian people and their organized resistance. To facilitate this transition, the NCRI announced a provisional government on February 28, 2026, grounded in Mrs. Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan, which promises gender equality, the abolition of the death penalty, and the separation of religion and state. Ultimately, the massive turnout in Paris serves as a solemn pledge to the martyrs of the 1980s, the 1988 massacre victims, and recent protesters. It proves that the resistance movement born out of the bloodshed of June 20, 1981, is the only legitimate force capable of realizing the dream of a free Iran.
