Iran regime’s secret execution of protester fails to quell uprising, ignites youth retaliation

On the morning of Saturday, September 6, 2025, Iranian regime authorities in Isfahan’s Dastgerd prison carried out another judicial murder, hanging Mehran Bahramian, a 32-year-old protester from the city of Semirom. This act was not a display of strength but a desperate attempt by a terrified dictatorship to quell the spirit of the 2022 nationwide uprising. However, instead of instilling fear, this brutal crime has backfired, exposing the regime’s profound weakness and igniting a wave of defiant retaliatory actions by Iran’s rebellious youth, proving once again that the flame of resistance cannot be extinguished.

A judicial murder rooted in vengeance and torture

Mehran Bahramian’s case is a stark example of the regime’s vengeful and lawless nature. He and his brother, Fazel, were arrested in January 2023 while attending a 40th-day memorial for protesters slain in Semirom. The Bahramian family had already paid a heavy price for freedom; their relative, Morad Bahramian, was martyred by security forces’ gunfire on November 16, 2022.

Following their arrest, Mehran and Fazel were transferred to an IRGC intelligence detention center, thrown into solitary confinement, and subjected to severe torture to extract forced confessions. The regime’s judiciary accused Mehran of killing an IRGC agent named Mohsen Rezayi on December 31, 2022. The entire legal process was a sham. The regime broadcast his coerced confessions and a staged crime scene reenactment without providing a shred of credible evidence. The case was so fundamentally flawed that the Supreme Court initially overturned the verdict, only to reinstate it later to avoid showing any sign of weakness toward the explosive society. This is the twelfth execution of a protester arrested during the 2022 uprising.

A secret execution betrays the regime’s fear

The regime’s cowardice was on full display in the days leading up to and following the execution. Security forces cut off Mehran’s contact with the outside world and pressured his family and friends to remain silent, hoping to prevent any public outcry. After executing him, regime authorities secretly buried Mehran’s body in Isfahan, cruelly denying his family the right to hold a funeral or lay him to rest in his hometown of Semirom.

These actions are not signs of a confident authority but of a brittle regime terrified of its own people. It fears the power of a martyr’s funeral, knowing it can easily transform into a new flashpoint for protests. By hiding his body, the regime has only confirmed its fear of the brave people of Semirom and the enduring legacy of martyrs like Mehran.

The people’s response: flames of defiance across Iran

The regime’s attempt at intimidation failed spectacularly. In a swift and courageous response, Iran’s rebellious youth launched at least ten retaliatory operations across the country, turning their grief into organized defiance. These acts were a tribute to Mehran and his heroic relative Morad, sending a clear message to Khamenei that his crimes will not go unanswered.

The wave of retaliation targeted the core symbols of the regime’s oppression:

  • In Semirom, a portrait of the dictator Khamenei was set ablaze.
  • In Tehran and Kermanshah, IRGC Basij bases—centers of domestic suppression—were targeted.
  • In Tabriz, three incendiary attacks targeted a center used for the torture and execution of dissidents.
  • In Aligudarz, a statue of the notorious terror master Qasem Soleimani was set on fire.
  • In cities from Kerman province to Saravan and Ramhormoz, regime buildings, propaganda billboards, and Basij espionage headquarters were torched.

Each flame lit in the darkness is a promise that the youth of Iran will not be silenced. Every act of defiance honors the memory of the martyrs and brings the dawn of a free Iran closer. Mehran Bahramian’s execution has not ended a chapter of resistance; it has started a new one, written in the fire of righteous anger.
